My iPhone 16 Pro Obsession - But It Didn't Last a Month

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was beyond excited to get my hands on the iPhone 16 Pro, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I was blown away by the camera, but the build quality and battery life were a letdown. I've always been a fan of Apple products, and I thought this one would be a game-changer. But after just a month of use, I'm back to my trusty old iPhone 12. Don't get me wrong, the iPhone 16 Pro has some amazing features, but it's just not worth the hype. If you're in the market for a new phone, I'd say hold off on this one and wait for the next update. The camera is seriously impressive, with crystal-clear photos and videos that are perfect for capturing special moments. The display is stunning, with vibrant colors and a level of brightness that's perfect for viewing in sunlight. The phone's software is generally smooth and responsive, making it a pleasure to use. The phone's design is sleek and premium, with a weight that feels substantial in your hand. The phone's speakers are surprisingly good, producing clear and balanced sound. The phone's charging speed is lightning-fast, getting you back up and running in no time. But despite all these great features, the iPhone 16 Pro has some major drawbacks. The phone can get hot when playing demanding games, which is a bit of a concern. The battery life is nowhere near as long as I expected, requiring multiple charges throughout the day. The build quality feels a bit flimsy, especially compared to my old iPhone 12. The phone's software can be a bit glitchy at times, but it's not a deal-breaker. The phone's price is steep, especially considering the lack of significant upgrades over the previous model. The phone's storage is a bit limited, especially if you plan on storing a lot of photos and videos.

Hello everyone! Today I want to share my thoughts on the iPhone 16 Pro and compare its camera to the iPhone 12.
Getting to know it. I've always been a fan of Apple products because they deliver quality. Their devices last for years, and I've had proof of that with my old iPod 5. It was amazing, with no glitches and smooth performance. Plus, I could take notes and photos that were crystal clear, which was a game-changer for me. Then came the iPads, iPhones, and even the Apple Watch. I've been using all these devices for years now. My iPhone 12 has been with me for five years and still works like a charm, no glitches whatsoever. But I've been craving something more, so I decided to try out the Pro version.
Unboxing.
I'm sure many of you remember that initial moment of unwrapping a new phone, when emotions take over. The iPhone comes in a familiar box, now sold without a plastic cover. The box itself is pretty minimalist, with hardly any markings on it - and that's a good thing, if you ask me.
My iPhone 16 Pro is a head-turner, especially in the dessert titanium color. The finish is top-notch, and the way it shines is seriously stunning. I've been using it for a while now, and I'm still blown away by the build quality and overall design. What really sets the 16 iPhone apart is the new button on the right-hand side. I've set mine up for taking photos, and it's also super sensitive – just swipe up or down to zoom in.
Another notable difference is the lack of a silent mode switch. Some people were disappointed by this, saying they preferred the old version. But for me, it's actually a nice touch – no fuss, just hold the button and you're good to go.
I've got to say, I really liked the 'chin' on this iPhone. In the 12, that space is completely unused, but in the 16, it's animated. It's always black, but when you plug in headphones or turn the sound on/off, it animates.
My absolute favorite feature on the iPhone 16 is the ability to remove unwanted objects from photos right in the Photos app. No need to download third-party apps – just connect to Wi-Fi (it won't work without it) and swipe away the unwanted item. I'm showing you this magic on a sample photo.
Honestly, I didn't notice any major differences between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 16 Pro. Yeah, it flies, and the icons and menu are slightly different, but that's about it.
iPhone 12 vs iPhone 16 Pro comparison. By the way, the first thing you should do when buying a phone is set up the camera. Here's how I have mine set up.
Now, let's get to the good stuff – the reason we're all here. I think most people are looking at how the camera has changed.
For someone upgrading from a regular iPhone 12 to the pro version of the new generation, the difference is wow. But don't think that older iPhones are bad at taking photos – I think they still do a pretty decent job, especially in good lighting.
And with normal lighting, the photos on the iPhone 12 are actually pretty good – it's just that the phone is outdated nowadays.
The real game-changer on the iPhone 16 Pro is the zoom. I want to show you how I took some photos in zoom mode, and the quality is surprisingly good. I took a photo of a church that's quite far away, but check out the quality when you zoom in.
I'm finally able to capture the moon and it's looking pretty clear – I couldn't even get it in focus on the 12x zoom setting.
And the macro mode is a real winner – it snaps into focus super quickly. The other cool feature of this new phone is its spatial photo or video mode. I'm a big fan of the extended format – it's perfect for capturing shots or videos with the Vision Pro. Now, let's take a look at some examples of photos taken with the 12MP camera on both the front and back of the phone. And to be honest, all my reviews (photos) were taken on my iPhone 12, except for the last 8 or so. The photo quality was fine for me, except for the selfies in low light.Examples of photos on 16 pro self-portraits and nature have been a real game-changer for me lately.
I've been enjoying sharing reviews so much more because the photos have come out crystal clear, even on the front-facing camera. But, I've only got a few examples to share so far, as I've only been using this phone for about a month.
And then the phone just broke after a week...I wish I could've made that a clickbait headline, but unfortunately, my phone had a manufacturing defect. I'm one of those people who got a dud – problems started showing up just a week in. This bright pink stripe appeared across the entire screen. At first, it would pop up and then disappear, but after a few more days, it was there to stay...
I immediately reached out to the seller about the warranty and all that jazz. The store took the phone in for an expert analysis (that whole process took another week). Not exactly the most pleasant experience, but it all worked out in the end and they replaced the phone with a brand new one. I've been using it for almost a month now and so far, so good (but I'm getting a little anxious, haha). The Verdict.
I hope my review has been helpful to someone out there. In my new phone, I've only seen the positives so far. By the way, the last few reviews (the photos) were taken on the 16 pro, so go check out the quality for yourself. I'd definitely recommend it!
