I recently picked up the IBOX Alta LaserScan Signature Dual, thinking it'd be a super-convenient way to replace my separate radar detector, dash cam, and GPS info display. With my job taking me on long road trips all the time, I was hoping this combo unit would be a total lifesaver.
After setting it up according to the instructions on the website, I hit the road. The radar detector works okay, but the rear-facing radar is a major letdown - it's just not as sensitive as I'd like. The video quality is average, but it's passable, I guess. The GPS info display, however, is a total joke - it only informed me about 24 cameras out of 1100 km. That's not exactly what I was expecting, especially considering the price.
I tried updating the software and database, but nothing changed. I even reached out to customer support, but after a week of back-and-forth, they basically told me I'm an idiot for buying this thing. Not exactly the kind of support I was hoping for.
Here are the main issues I've encountered:
The rear-facing radar sensitivity is way too low. The video quality just isn't up to par for the price. The mount is super flimsy and prone to coming loose during use. There's no option to connect the device to a computer or a power source at home, making setup a real pain. I have to fiddle with it while it's installed on my windshield, which is just annoying. The GPS info display is basically useless, and when I asked about the camera databases, they just kind of shrugged it off.
Overall, I feel like I wasted my money on this thing. It doesn't deliver on its promises, and I wouldn't recommend this manufacturer to anyone.
