A Sweet Surprise from Kazakhstan: HashTak Review

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently got my hands on a box of Eastern sweets called HashTak, and I'm super excited to share my experience with you. These bite-sized treats are a creation of Central Asian chefs, and they're surprisingly simple yet genius. The combination of dried apricots, raisins, and honey, topped with a half of a walnut, makes for a flavor explosion that's out of this world. I was blown away by the quality and taste of these little goodies, and I highly recommend giving them a try.

I recently got my hands on a box of Eastern sweets called HashTak, and I'm super excited to share my experience with you.
HashTak's a creation of Central Asian chefs, and as they say, genius is simple. It's dried apricots stuffed with raisins and honey, topped with a half of a walnut. The whole thing looks like something out of a fairy tale - like it's straight from the pages of '1001 Nights'.
They're made in Kazakhstan, in Almaty, by IP Abidov.
The apricots in these things are huge, with a deep brown color that's just perfect.
They're dried in the sun, without any preservatives, and are completely natural - no artificial anything. The walnuts are beautiful, golden, and of the highest quality. The raisins, however, have seeds, and that's sometimes noticeable.
There are 12 pieces in the box, which is a nice size for snacking.

Each piece weighs between 35-40 grams, which is a nice size for a snack.
It's impossible to eat one whole piece in one sitting - they're just too big and too good.
xa0
The flavor is incredibly sweet, almost cloying, but in a good way. The apricots are soft, tender, and full of flavor. The walnuts are fresh and oily. The raisins with honey melt in your mouth - it's just perfect with a cup of tea.
The flavor is so vibrant and distinct, it's like a party in your mouth.
It's low in calories, around 350 per 100 grams, which is great for those watching their diet. Unfortunately, there's no calorie information on the packaging, which is a bit of a bummer. The benefits of dried fruits, honey, and nuts are well-known and obvious, though.
When you're spoiled, you start looking for flaws, but I couldn't find any. There's no production date (it's got a 6-month shelf life), and the weight isn't specified. I really hope they followed all the sanitary norms during production - that's all I can say.
It was interesting to try, and in theory, you could make something similar yourself, but I've never seen apricots like these before.
