I've been hooked on foot care for over a decade. It's just something I do every day, like brushing my teeth or taking a shower. Foot care is right up there with those daily habits.
So, what's a pedicure, anyway?
A pedicure is a treatment that focuses on both the health and looks of your feet. It involves removing dead skin cells, calluses, and ingrown toenails, as well as treating cracks and fungal infections. You'll also get your nails shaped, polished, and your skin exfoliated and moisturized.
I take care of my feet just like I take care of the rest of my body. I use scrubs, salts, and pumice stones – it's all about self-love and taking care of myself!
There's something liberating about walking around barefoot in the summer, with my toes and feet on full display, without worrying about what others think. I've come to realize that it's really none of their business, and I'm happy to be myself.
Even in the dead of winter, when my feet are hidden away in closed-toe shoes, I still make time for foot care – my family gets to see my toes and heels, after all.
Weekly foot care is a must – it keeps my feet feeling fresh, clean, and well-maintained.
After a warm bath with salts and peels, I slather on a moisturizing mask, massage my foot thoroughly, and then slip into special plastic socks. I leave them on for an hour or so – it's the perfect way to unwind and pamper myself.
I'm super careful about wearing socks all the time, especially since my coworker, who's a sock enthusiast, always wears them to bed and even around the house. It's no wonder she's developed fungal infections on her toes! I, on the other hand, prefer to wear slippers – they're my go-to choice for cozy comfort.
Foot soaks are super helpful for reducing swelling and fatigue. I do them more often during spring and summer when there are a lot of allergens around. It's like a treasure trove of vitamins for my feet!
I've also found a helpful exercise: simply elevate your feet on a pillow or cushion, making sure they're higher than your head.
I've never been one to visit a specialized salon where some stranger gets to touch my skin, even my feet, with God-knows-what tools. No way, that's just not my thing. I prefer to do all my own beauty treatments at home. For a pedicure, all you need to do is soak your feet in warm water, and then get to work on the maintenance. The only thing that needs to be done dry is the pumice stone for your heels.
Getting regular pedicures really does make a difference – my legs feel fresh, clean, and well-maintained.
