I miss the days when comedies weren't afraid to ruffle a few feathers. I miss the days when comedies didn't try to teach me a lesson. I miss the days when comedies were actually funny – and genuinely made me laugh. And I especially miss the good old days of teen comedies that were worth watching. Man, I had no idea how much I'd miss genuine teen comedies until I watched 'Food Cart'. Although it's easy to label this as your run-of-the-mill teen comedy from the 80s or 90s, 'Food Cart' takes the best from this subgenre and discards the worst (cringeworthy jokes, for instance. The movie does have some cheesiness, but even that can be played for laughs).
The main actors do a great job of bringing AJ and Muse to life. AJ is more laid-back, but uncertain, while Muse is more quick-witted, but hot-headed.
The director does a great job of capturing the carefree atmosphere of summer, making me feel like I was a teenager again.
