Fix Price Fail: A Waste of Money and Time

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently tried the Homestar toilet gel from Fix Price, and let me tell you, it was a total letdown. The product promised to remove lime deposits and prevent their formation, but it just didn't deliver. The liquid formula was a turnoff, and the nozzle was finicky. The worst part? It didn't even work as advertised. I'm extremely disappointed in this purchase, especially considering the decent price of 79 rubles. If you're looking for a reliable toilet gel, keep looking. This one's a waste of time and money. I was expecting a lot more from Fix Price, but unfortunately, this product fell short. The packaging was standard, but that's about it. The product description sounded great, but it was all hype and no substance. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

I recently tried the Homestar toilet gel from Fix Price, and to be honest, I was really disappointed with this purchase.
Product Name: HomestarType: Toilet Gel
Country of Origin: Russia
Bottle Color: Dark Blue
Product Form: Gel
Where to Buy: Fix Price, also available at any household goods store or Makro
Price: 79 rubles at Fix Price
Volume: 750 ml
Product Description:
It perfectly removes lime deposits and prevents their formation in toilets, removes rust, and easily cleans surfaces from grease stains, mold, and soap residue.
Let's Take a Look at the Packaging
The standard packaging for the Homestar line. At Fix Price, you can check out the entire range of products from this brand: there are universal and local-action products.
The dark blue bottle has a convenient nozzle. However, I found it really hard to open the lid, so I had to use some force. After that, it seemed to loosen up.
This is a local-purpose product: for cleaning and the white friend - the toilet.
Ingredients:
Read on the packaging:
≥5%, but < 15%: citric acid; < 5%: APAB, dye, fragrance.
I was surprised by how well it left my toilet smelling - it's like a breath of fresh air! Smell:
It leaves a fresh scent.
Chemical. I can pick up on something citrusy. No chlorine taste for me. After using the stuff, I don't feel any lingering citrus or chemical smell - if you know what I mean. Honestly, I think toilet cleaners should leave a scent behind... I'm not even opposed to a hint of chlorine.
Format:
Like all Homestar products, this is a gel. The gel is transparent.
Thanks to its thick consistency, the gel from Homestar spreads evenly under the rim and doesn't run off on sloping surfaces, making it super convenient and cost-effective to use.
The manufacturer is a bit of a joke... it's way too runny! I used it once and I'm already down to half a bottle. I'd say that's not exactly economical.
I didn't notice that the stuff foams up a lot. Usage:
Manufacturer's instructions:
Toilets: apply the product under the rim and distribute inside the toilet bowl, wait for up to 10 minutes, then clean and rinse with water. If needed, repeat the process.
How I use it:
I don't stray too far from the manufacturer's recommendations.
I put on my rubber gloves I poured the cleaner under the toilet rim. The nozzle is comfortable, but since the cleaner is super runny, you have to move fast or you'll use it all up at once. I came back with a toilet brush to create some foam and gently worked the cleaner into the stains Then I waited 10 minutes. (Honestly, I was worried that if I waited any longer, the toilet might crack or something? The cleaner is pretty aggressive, right?)I went back with the toilet brush and rinsed it The Result (My Impressions)
The most interesting part. The cherry on top
I'm going to tell you about the toilet problem: since we just moved into a new house, I hadn't had a chance to descale the toilet (or any of the plumbing, for that matter) but, in our area, the water is pretty hard and not very high-quality, and as a result, a yellowish streak of lime scale started appearing…. I needed to fix this. The manufacturer promised that the cleaner would handle even tougher cases, so I gave it a shot.
And in the end, I got... nothing. The streak was still there, just as before.
Yeah, it's definitely less noticeable now. But, I've got another Homestar product that I've been using (I talked about it here today, check it out) and it's way better than this one. This product is basically just a surface-level cleaner for the toilet, and it doesn't even last that long, just giving it a citrusy smell for a bit I actually really like the Homestar product I mentioned above, and I use it on a daily/weekly basis. It's not the most cost-effective option, so I decided to try this one from the same series, specifically for the toilet. Think of it as a way to cut back on my favorite product. What I got? I won't be using it again. I'll finish it up and toss it.
My verdict:This Fix Price 'Homestar. Toilet Gel' is a complete waste of money and time. Disappointment Not recommended to buy!

I've gotta say, the customer support from Brand Name has been top-notch. I had a question about the Product Name and they got back to me within a few hours. The return process was seamless, and I was able to get a replacement Product Name with a new battery, which is a major plus for me.
The battery life on the new Product Name is seriously impressive. I've been using it for a week now, and it still has plenty of juice left. I've been using it for a week now, and it still has plenty of juice left.
I'm really happy with my purchase, and I'd definitely recommend the Product Name to anyone looking for a reliable Product Category. The value for money is excellent, and the shipping was fast and efficient.

live_helpFeatured FAQ

Is the Homestar toilet gel effective at removing lime deposits and preventing their formation?

Unfortunately, no. I tried it and it just didn't work as advertised. The product description makes it sound like it's a game changer, but trust me, it's not.

What's the deal with the liquid formula?

To be honest, it's just not what I'm used to. I prefer a thicker, more gel-like consistency, but this one's just too runny for my taste.

Is the nozzle easy to use?

No, not at all. It's super finicky and hard to control, which makes it a pain to use.

Can I return the product if I'm not satisfied?

I'm not sure, but I'd recommend checking the return policy before making a purchase. You never know, you might be able to get a refund or exchange it for something else.

Is the product available at other stores besides Fix Price?

Yes, you can find it at most household goods stores or even at Makro. Just be aware that the price might vary.

What's the country of origin for the Homestar toilet gel?

According to the packaging, it's made in Russia.

Can I use the product on other surfaces besides toilets?

I'm not sure, but I'd recommend checking the product description or manufacturer's website for more information. You don't want to damage any surfaces, after all.

How long does the product last?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I used it for a week and it still had some left, but I'm not sure how long it would last in total.

Is the product worth the money?

No, not at all. The product is a total waste of time and money, especially considering the price.
