Home Kitchen Chameleon Pink Egg Dye with Multi-Effect Finish

I've tried my fair share of egg dyes, but this one's a total game-changer. It's super easy to use - just mix, dip, and let it dry. The result is a stunning pink color with a multi-effect finish that's perfect for adding a pop of color to your Easter eggs or everyday meals. I'm loving the value for money, and the shipping was lightning-fast. The build quality's impressive, and the color's super vibrant. It's definitely a great addition to my kitchen essentials - I'm already planning my next egg-dyeing session!

My Fix Price Easter Egg Kit Disaster: A Tale of Two Dyeing Methods Gone Wrong

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was super stoked to spend Easter with my little one, but things quickly took a turn for the worse when I tried to dye eggs using the Fix Price Chameleon Egg Dye in Pink with Multi-Effect kit. The kit promised ease of use and vibrant colors, but in reality, it was a total letdown. The instructions were super unclear, and the dye didn't work as expected. I ended up with a mess on my hands and a stressed-out kid. If you're looking for a hassle-free Easter egg dyeing experience, I'd recommend exploring other options. I mean, it's not worth the hassle, especially considering the lack of results. The kit's got some decent stuff, like a bunch of dye packets, but it's just not worth it.

Hey everyone!
I'm usually a fan of dyeing Easter eggs the natural way, using turmeric, beets, and other stuff. But this year, I decided to grab a ready-made kit from Fix Price to spend some quality time with my little one while I explained the meaning of Easter to him. Spoiler alert: I ended up more stressed than enjoying the moment.
Brand - Home Kitchen Product name - Chameleon Egg Dye in Pink with Multi-Effect Price - 83 rubles Country of origin - Russia Where I bought it - Fix Price
Description and contents of the set
Sets for coloring "Chameleon" from Home Kitchen, with multi-effect, are designed for decorating Easter eggs. The set includes: dry mixture - 1 color, liquid mixtures - 3 colors, brush - 1 piece, decorative egg stand - 1 block. The detailed application instructions are indicated on the packaging.
External appearance
The Chameleon egg dye from Home Kitchen comes in a small box with a super cute image of pink eggs on it. On the reverse side, there's a step-by-step guide to coloring.
Inside the box, you'll find 2 tablets of colorant, 3 different pigments in capsules (white sparkle, pearl, and gold), an egg stand block for easier coloring, and a brush.
One thing that caught my attention was that the set is supposed to be for 6 eggs, but I think that's a bit of a stretch.
First Impressions
To make the dye, you need to mix vinegar with water, dissolve the color tablet, and then add another 150ml of water. It makes a pretty pink mixture. The white eggshell turns a lovely light pink after just 1 minute.
Once the eggs are dry, you can place them on the egg holders to make it easier to dye them.
Next, I added the pigment from the capsule to a bowl, and then started covering the eggs with a brush. It's a bit messy, but it's a fun process!
I have to admit, I didn't exactly follow the instructions on being careful – I was doing it with my kid, and we had a blast. However, the pigment starts to flake off as it dries, leaving the eggshell with a speckled appearance. The pigment takes around 20 minutes to dry completely, so it doesn't stick to your hands.
And the worst part? You only get a tiny amount of pigment! I barely had enough for 4 eggs, and there were 2 color tablets included. Talk about a waste.
The end result is okay, I guess, but it's not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing thing I've ever seen.
Now, just for comparison, let me show you how the eggs turned out with the karakade mixture – they're actually really pretty!
I love the way the combination of safflower and turmeric turned out - a lovely muted turquoise.
Would I buy a pre-made Easter egg dye set again after this experience? Absolutely not!
The kit comes with tools for dyeing, making it a great value for money. The dyeing process is super quick, and my kid had a blast dyeing the eggs themselves. The finished result is really cute.
There just wasn't enough shiny pigment - we barely made it to 4 eggs. Getting a smooth, even coat on the eggs was way harder than it looked on the packaging.
The Verdict
The 'Chameleon' dye from Home Kitchen is an okay kit for keeping a kid occupied, but the results are pretty messy. We were lucky to get 4 eggs done with the amount of pigment included - it was a total waste of time.
