My Fix Price Aluminum Baking Mold Review: A Surprising Find
I was excited to try out the new Fix Price aluminum baking mold, especially since I'd been eyeing it for a while. As a frequent baker, I'm always on the lookout for quality products that won't break the bank.
When I received the mold, I was impressed by its compact size and lightweight design. The packaging was minimal, but the product itself looked sturdy and well-made.
First impressions are everything, right? Well, let me tell you, this mold exceeded my expectations. I decided to put it to the test with a classic walnut cake recipe, and the results were amazing.
Brand: Kitchen
Manufacturer: China
Price: 12.7 rubles
Composition:
Aluminum
Dimensions:
22.5 / 12 / 7 cm
TESTING:
I chose a walnut cake with apricots recipe to test the mold's performance. The ingredients were simple: 1 egg, 250 ml milk, 250 g flour, 80 g sugar, leavening agent, and 100 ml olive oil.
Here's the recipe in a nutshell:
Mix dry and liquid ingredients separately. Then, add the egg and milk mixture to the nut and flour mixture, add sliced apricots, and mix a few times. You can leave some flour clumps, which will give the cake a fluffy texture.
The mold performed flawlessly. The cake baked perfectly, didn't stick to the walls, and was easy to remove. I was impressed by how well it distributed heat, making it comfortable to use.
The shape holds up well to use, so you can reuse it multiple times. I love that Russian soul of mine - I just want to wipe it down and clean it once!
You can shape the mold into a different shape, which is exactly what I did, deciding to 'round out' the cake.
However, there are a few drawbacks to consider. The mold got dented during shipping, but the aluminum is a soft material, so you can easily restore it.
Vegetable oil slides right off the mold walls, so it's better to use butter for greasing. The mold is hard to clean because the aluminum folds like to hold onto bits of dough. Although, for frugal Russian housewives, that's not a big deal: grab a toothbrush and - voilà! - the mold is good as new after a dozen uses.
I'm satisfied with the mold. It does its job well. It's easy to transport, and if, by some miracle, there's anything left on the dacha!
