A Disappointing Experience at Fauna: Long Waits, Subpar Consultation, and a Price Hike

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still fuming about my recent visit to Fauna, where I spent three hours waiting in line, received a subpar consultation, and was charged a higher rate than expected. The experience was a total letdown, especially considering the clinic's lack of attention to cleanliness and air quality. The consultation itself was a joke, with the doctor barely addressing my cat's underlying issue. If you're looking for a reliable and compassionate veterinary experience, Fauna is not the place to go. In fact, I'd recommend avoiding them altogether. The value for money just isn't there, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I did. To make matters worse, the waiting area reeked of cat urine and lacked proper ventilation, making the whole experience even more unpleasant. I'm still trying to process why they would prioritize their hospital patients over their clients, but it's clear that they need to work on their customer service skills. Overall, I'd say that Fauna falls short in several key areas, including wait times, consultation quality, and customer support.

I'm still fuming about my recent visit to Fauna. Three hours of waiting, a subpar consultation, and getting charged a higher rate - that's the Fauna experience!
Want to spend three hours waiting in line, get a questionable consultation, and pay a higher rate that kicks in during the endless wait? Then Fauna's your place!
I usually take my cat to a different clinic, but they're closed in the evenings, so I had to try Fauna. I arrived at 9 PM with my cat, and there were only two patients ahead of me. I thought, 'Okay, maybe a 30-40 minute wait.' But nope, it was three hours! The doctor would constantly leave to attend to the animals in the hospital, so each consultation took about an hour, but the actual time spent with me was only 10-15 minutes. And to top it off, the waiting area reeked of cat urine - apparently, they don't prioritize cleanliness or air quality.
The consultation was a total joke. The doctor only addressed my cat's symptoms, not the underlying issue. When I expressed my concerns, the doctor just said, 'It'll pass on its own' (but my cat has had this issue before, and it's only gotten worse). When I mentioned the medication I normally give my cat, the doctor said it wasn't the best choice and refused to prescribe an alternative. It was like she was trying to sell me a different medication.
And to add insult to injury, I got charged the higher rate for the consultation, even though I could have easily arrived before the rate hike kicked in if they had their act together. I mean, come on, it's not like they're organized or anything. It's like they're deliberately trying to keep you waiting as long as possible so they can charge you more.
At one point, I was so overwhelmed by the smell that I had to step outside to collect myself. Maybe they're used to it, but it's not normal. I've never had to wait three hours in any other clinic, and I've had pets my whole life.
Two patients who came after me ended up getting frustrated and leaving. I should have done the same. If this was an isolated incident, I'd expect an apology and a discount for the inconvenience. But Fauna just shrugged it off and charged me the higher rate. Bravo.
I've been thinking about this, and it's not the first time I've had doubts about Fauna's quality. Ten years ago, they missed a fatal virus in my cat, which I had brought in for a check-up. Luckily, I had my suspicions, so I took my cat to a different clinic the next day, where they saved her life. I'm not sure if the doctor who made that mistake is still working there, but it seems their hiring strategy hasn't changed much.
One of the biggest red flags for me was the lack of empathy from the staff. When I mentioned the smell, they just told me to 'get used to it.' Get used to it? Are you kidding me? That's not how you treat customers. It's like they're more concerned with making a profit than providing good care for their patients.
Another thing that really bothered me was the lack of transparency. When I asked about the rate hike, they just said it was 'industry standard.' Industry standard? That's just a cop-out. If they were transparent about the rate hike, I could have planned my visit accordingly. But no, they just left me hanging, waiting for three hours, and then hit me with the higher rate. It's just not right.
Neglectful attitude towards clients
Lack of competence
Lack of training for staff
Unacceptable wait times
Unhygienic waiting area
Aggressive sales tactics from the doctor

  • The waiting area had comfortable seating, which was a nice touch, but it didn't make up for the long wait time. The staff seemed friendly, even if they were a bit disorganized, which made the experience feel a bit more welcoming. The facility had a decent selection of pet food and supplies, which was convenient, but not exactly what I was looking for. The doctor did eventually address some of my cat's symptoms, but it felt like an afterthought. The clinic had a convenient evening hours option, although it was a bit of a gamble, and the staff did offer some helpful advice on cat care, which was appreciated.

  • The three-hour wait was completely unacceptable, especially considering how long I'd been waiting. The consultation was rushed and didn't address the underlying issue, which was frustrating. The doctor seemed more interested in attending to the animals in the hospital than listening to my concerns, which made me feel like I wasn't a priority. The waiting area reeked of cat urine and lacked proper ventilation, making the whole experience even more unpleasant. The higher rate I was charged felt like a rip-off, especially considering the subpar service I received. The lack of attention to cleanliness and air quality was appalling, and it's clear that they need to work on this aspect of their business.
