I've been using Fairy dish soap for a while now, and I have to say, it's a real game-changer. The name Fairy is synonymous with dish soap in Russia, and it's easy to see why - it's a product that's hard to remain neutral about.
The word 'fairy' has become a generic term for any dish soap, just like how 'Pampers' replaced the Russian word for diapers. But Fairy is more than just a name - it's a product that's been around for decades, and it's still going strong.

Just one drop of concentrated Fairy can wash away mountains of dirty dishes.
The name 'Fairy' literally means 'fairy' in English - implying that your hands and the magic of household chemicals can make quick work of even the toughest pots and pans. The first Fairy bottle rolled off the production line back in 1950, and since then, it's been a global phenomenon, with new variants popping up regularly.
Fairy's got a wide range of scents to suit every taste:
1. Fairy Platinum.
It's marketed as more concentrated, and I had one with a 'Frozen Freshness' fragrance - it smelled nice, and there are also lemon and lime variants.
2. 'Foam Effect'
Flavors: green apple, zesty lemon, and my personal favorite - orange and lemongrass (although it's not always easy to find).
3. 'Gentle Hands'
We used to have a bottle with tea tree and mint at home, and I loved the scent. Now, I've got one with chamomile on my dacha - it's gentle on my skin.
4. ProDerma
I've got to say, the scents in this Fairy Pure range are a bit of a letdown for me. The aloe vera and coconut, or the orchid and silk options just don't cut it. The gel itself is pretty and has a nice pearlescent effect, but the fragrances are way too overpowering and can linger on your dishes. I've got to admit, orchid makes me think of fabric softeners, not something I'd want in my cleaning products.
5. Check out the new Pure & Clean range
This is Fairy without any dyes or fragrances - a big move from P&G to cater to customers who've been complaining about the strong smell. I've written a full review of the new product here.I haven't tried the dishwasher capsules, which come in a soft pack with a bigger volume - I've stuck to the standard bottles. The bottles and dispensers are all the same across the range, with the only difference being the design. The consistency is pretty much the same too.
ON THE PACKAGING
Despite the Fairy range expanding all the time, the overall design concept remains the same. The bottle is a nice capless design, easy to hold and use.
I have to say, the transparent plastic is a lot easier to work with - you can see how much product is left. On the front, there's an info graphic, and on the back, you'll find the ingredients, usage instructions, safety precautions, manufacturer contact info, and other important details. But let's be real, the text is so small you'll need a magnifying glass to read it, even if you have perfect vision: One thing I appreciate is that the packaging shows the production date:
Flip-top dispenser. I'm a fan of how it doesn't break when you open and close it multiple times. It's a simple design, but it gets the job done.
Some users might say that flip-top dispensers are outdated, and that spray dispensers are better. But I think flip-tops are cheaper, which means Fairy with it will be more affordable.INGREDIENTS:

2 types of surfactants, preservative, fragrances, linseed oil
I've got to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the ingredients in this dish soap. The 'Pure & Clean' formula still has anionic and non-ionic foaming agents, but no fragrances or dyes. It's perfect for those who love the idea of their dishes and utensils smelling like, well, nothing at all.
I always wash my dishes with gloves because I'm trying to preserve my skin and nails. Any dish soap can strip the natural oils from your skin, leading to dryness or irritation. Even with Fairy added, this still manages to do the trick without leaving my hands feeling like the Sahara desert.
WHAT'S INSIDE
The consistency is thick and easy to dispense in small amounts. The scent varies depending on the line, and the color can range from transparent to pearlescent, with a slight yellow or green tint. USAGE
I simply apply a few drops to a clean sponge, depending on the state of the dishes.
If I'm washing plates without a lot of grease, I just apply it directly to the sponge. But if I need to tackle a caked-on mess from cooking meat or fish, I apply it directly to the stuck-on bits and let it sit for a bit before rinsing. It comes off easily, even in cold water, although it does work faster and better in hot water, of course. The foaming action is great, and the bubbles are nice and thick, forming after just a couple of squeezes of the sponge. Of course, if you're washing a lot of dishes, you may need to 'replenish' the soap a few times. But compared to other brands, the amount used is significantly less.
Check out how Pure & Clean foams:
What I love about "Gentle Hands":
After washing off food from dishes, I thoroughly rinse them under running water. Fairy comes off easily, no lingering smell, but I do use a bit of it. If you don't overdo it, it won't cause any harm, and it's also budget-friendly. The dishes, on the other hand, squeak with cleanliness, just like in the ads.
By the way, Fairy has other uses around the house. What else can it be useful for?
Removing grease and oil stains from clothes (apply a drop to fresh stains)Cleaning floors (it works great on linoleum and laminate, removing footprints)Washing windowsI know people even use Fairy to clean cars and engines. Theoretically, you could even wash your hair with it - it's a budget-friendly alternative to shampoo. For me, the pros of the product outweigh the cons: it's widely available, affordable, dissolves grease well, and is economical. The only catch is the ingredients, which might not appeal to eco-conscious folks. I simply choose to apply it in a controlled manner, using a sponge, and the foam comes off without any residue.
