My Honest Review of Expel: A Drain Cleaner That Falls Short

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been dealing with clogged drains in my kitchen and bathroom for ages, and I'm always on the lookout for a solution that actually works. I tried a bunch of different drain cleaners in the past, but none of them really delivered. That's when I stumbled upon Expel, a drain cleaner that comes in a weird sachet format with granular powder. I was excited to see if it would live up to its claims, but unfortunately, it didn't quite cut it. Here's my honest review of Expel: it's just okay, but it's not the game-changer I was hoping for. The powder is easy to pour into the drain, and it doesn't leave any lingering smells, which is a plus. But when it comes to clearing clogs, Expel struggled to keep up. It's not the worst thing I've ever used, but it's definitely not the best either.

I've been dealing with clogged drains in my kitchen and bathroom for ages, and I'm always on the lookout for a solution that actually works.
My family loves their coffee, but it's a real pain when it clogs up the drains.
I've tried a bunch of different drain cleaners in the past, but none of them really delivered.
That's when I stumbled upon Expel, a drain cleaner that comes in a weird sachet format with granular powder.
According to the packaging, Expel is supposed to remove hair and other blockages from drains, but I decided to try it out for my specific issue.
I was drawn to Expel's unique packaging and marketing, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
The packaging is tiny, but the soft flask design is actually kind of cool.
The packaging includes a ton of info on how to use the product, including warnings and instructions.
The product weighs 100 grams and comes in two sachets, which is a decent size for the price of 130 rubles.
I cut the sachet open with scissors, since there wasn't a designated tear-off strip.
The substance inside is pretty active, so I'd recommend wearing rubber gloves, and after my first use, I realized it's a good idea to wear a mask too.
The sachet contains small granules of white and blue color, which are pretty easy to pour into the drain.
To use the product, you need to pour the granules into the drain, add a cup of water, wait for 30 minutes, and then rinse with hot water.
I was happy to find that the granules don't have a strong odor, which is a plus.
However, when I poured the granules into the drain and they came into contact with the wet surface, a reaction started to occur, and some volatile substances were released.
I immediately started coughing and stepped away from the area, and then rinsed my mouth with water.
So, be sure to wear gloves and a mask before using this product!
I waited for 30 minutes, and during that time, nothing visible happened.
Then, I rinsed the area with a large amount of hot water.
The granules stuck to the mesh on my drain, which wasn't ideal.
According to the instructions, Expel is suitable for both metal and plastic pipes.
I have plastic pipes, and I was worried that the strong chemical reaction might damage them or the connections.
Fortunately, the pipes were not damaged, but the clog was not completely cleared either.
I was expecting a better result, but Expel just didn't deliver.
Using Expel is convenient, the sachet format makes it easy to use, and the process is relatively quick.
However, the effectiveness is only 4 out of 5, which isn't great.
I might use it again, but I'll try the gel format next time in hopes of better results.
Thanks for reading my review!
