My Honest Take on the Exeed LX AWD Premium

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently traded in my trusty VW Tiguan for the Exeed LX AWD Premium, a move that left me wondering if I'd made a mistake. At 3.5 million rubles, this Chinese import was a significant investment, but I was drawn in by its promise of advanced tech and impressive build quality. After a week of driving, I'm happy to report that the Exeed LX AWD Premium has won me over – but not without a few caveats. The Exeed LX AWD Premium's all-wheel-drive system is a game changer for navigating Russia's rough roads. The interior is surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room for passengers and cargo. I'm impressed by the build quality – the buttons feel solid, and the materials used are top-notch. The Exeed LX AWD Premium's infotainment system is intuitive and feature-rich, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Battery life is longer than I expected, even with regular city driving. The Exeed LX AWD Premium's advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, give me peace of mind on the road. However, the Exeed LX AWD Premium's price is steep, especially considering the rising dollar and VAT. While the interior is comfortable, the seats could be more supportive for long drives. The Exeed LX AWD Premium's fuel efficiency is decent, but not exceptional – I average around 8 km/l in city driving. The Exeed LX AWD Premium's rearview camera is a nice feature, but it's not as sharp as I'd like. Customer support is still a bit of a mystery – I've had mixed experiences with the dealership. The Exeed LX AWD Premium's warranty is limited to 3 years or 100,000 km, which is a concern for long-term ownership.

Hello there!
I recently traded in my trusty old VW Tiguan for a newer model, but I didn't want to wait for better times, as cars are getting ridiculously expensive. Just a few years ago, you could buy the same Tiguan for the price I paid for the Exeed LX AWD Premium, but now it's like buying a spaceship.
xa0
The Exeed LX AWD Premium 2022 model with all-wheel drive cost me a whopping 3.5 million rubles. Next year, prices will go up by another 700,000 rubles, thanks to the 20% VAT and the rising dollar. After all, these cars are imported from China. I was a bit concerned about that, but my experience with Chinese cars has been changing my mind.
xa0
Just a few years ago, people would say that Chinese cars weren't on par with European models, but now China's automotive industry is rapidly advancing, and their cars are now on par with European models in terms of design, interior, and technology. And let's not forget the added bonus of rust-resistant metal.
xa0
Why Exeed?
I was torn between the OMODA C5, HAVAL F7x, and Exeed LX. In the end, I chose the latter. I liked the fact that these cars are part of a premium brand, making them more prestigious. They're designed by top-notch European designers and engineers.
xa0
Secondly, their prices are relatively reasonable, considering what you get. The LX is the youngest sibling, with the TLX being slightly larger and the VX being a full-size model. The price difference between them is around 1-1.5 million rubles.
xa0
Exterior.
I'm really impressed with the exterior design - my Exeed's in a beautiful pearl white finish. I'm not a fan of high-riding sedans, but the Exeed isn't too boxy either. It's more of a rugged, masculine look that's perfect for guys. The claimed ground clearance is 18.5 cm, but it looks even higher. The body is sporty with a hint of futurism, not as formal as the VW, but not as toy-like as the Renault Kaptur.
xa0
The doors and hood are ridiculously heavy and solid - that's what sets the Exeed apart from lower-class Chinese cars.
xa0
Interior.
The interior features artificial leather, a colored strip, wooden elements, and a glossy finish. For me, the seats are comfortable, and you can adjust them to be as high as you want - it's like sitting on a pedestal. The rearview is fantastic, and everything is electric.
The glove compartment is spacious.
The trunk isn't huge, but it's enough for me. It comes with a full-size spare wheel, not a temporary one. I've got to say, the drink cooler compartment is basically a mini-fridge.
Under the hood, everything is super tidy – not a speck of dust or any noise to be heard.
Features:
The biggest plus is the four-wheel drive – I've got it in my city where the snow-clearing services can't keep up. Just yesterday, they dumped massive snowdrifts, and other cars are stuck, but my little SUV just powers through like a tank, nothing can stop it.
Four-wheel driveKeyless start.
Keyless access is super convenient – I just walk up, and the car unlocks, and when I leave, it locks itself, and it even follows me for 30 seconds with the headlights on before turning off.
Dynamic turn signals – I love how they flash.
19-inch wheels and tires.
1.6-liter engine.
150 horsepower – a budget-friendly tax bracket. My insurance (OSAGO) came out to around 12 thousand rubles, and my comprehensive insurance (KAСКО) was about 80 thousand rubles.
7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The gearshift is this tiny joystick thing.
I'm seriously impressed by the sheer number of driving assistants this thing has - cameras, parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, stability control, ABS, traction control, and even hill descent control.
You can figure it out without even reading the manual, it's all pretty intuitive.
xa0
Everything about this car is just so thoughtfully designed. For winter: heated seats, steering wheel, windshield, rear window, mirrors, and windshield washer nozzles.
For summer: ventilation for the seats (the air blows right through the pop-up vents), and the AC.
I'm especially stoked about the panoramic roof with the option to let in some fresh air.
It's just so cozy and feminine, like something a girl would love. Even the multi-faceted lights look like little diamonds.
The ambient lighting throughout the cabin is stunning, especially at night. It sets the mood and changes with the music, with different colors to choose from.
And then there's the multimedia tech - a whole different story. I feel like I've been living under a rock, I'd never even heard of CarPlay with my phone, voice control, and all the rest.
Navigation Now, let's get to the not-so-great stuff. It's a tiny complaint, but the USB ports are located at the bottom, which didn't bother me at first, but after using it, I realized it's a real pain, especially for the driver seat. The wireless charging is also down there. I bought a non-slip mat and placed my phone on it.
The rear seat doesn't have a folding armrest, which is a bummer. I'm a skier, and it's more convenient to store my skis in the Tiguan because they lay flat in the middle. This one's a bit of a squeeze.
The interior trim is nice, but it shows fingerprints like crazy. I'd prefer wood accents everywhere. The key fob is a bit of a letdown. The buttons are hard to press, and I had to get used to it. It takes some time to get the hang of it.
I've gotta say, there's no such thing as a perfect car - every one's got its pros and cons. In this case, the downsides are pretty minor, but the good stuff is where it's at. I'm really enjoying the ride and I'd definitely recommend it to others.
Thanks for reading my review.
