Tunga Zodiak 2

I've used the Tunga Zodiak 2 on my daily commute, and I'm impressed with how well it handles. For the price, you get a durable tire that's built to last - it's a great value for money.

A Surprisingly Good Deal on Tires That Won't Break the Bank

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently bought a car with a set of Cordiant Comfort tires, but I soon discovered they've been discontinued. The same tire is now made by Tunga under the name Zodiak 2, which looks identical and has the same rubber compound. I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality and battery life of the Tunga Zodiak 2, making it a great value for money - especially considering its price.

I recently bought a car with a set of Cordiant Comfort tires, along with an older set. I thought I'd easily find another pair of Cordiants, but it turns out they've been discontinued.
The same tire is now made by Tunga under the name Zodiak 2. The design looks identical, and the rubber compound is supposedly the same too. Honestly, I didn't notice any difference, and from what I can tell, Cordiant Comfort = Tunga Zodiak 2.
Here's a comparison between the two:
And here's a look at the Tunga Zodiak 2:
I've been driving on these tires for two seasons and around 15,000 kilometers now.
One of the main advantages is their durability. I'm not the most careful driver, and I've scraped against curbs, hit potholes, and even gotten a flat tire, but the tire has held up perfectly.
No balancing issues here, which is a relief - that's a common problem in budget tires.
The tires grip the road well, both on asphalt and dirt roads, and I think the deep tread design has a lot to do with that. Just be careful on the highway at speeds over 120 km/h, or you might find yourself hydroplaning.
My main complaints are that they're pretty noisy. In my car, which isn't exactly known for its soundproofing, it's tough to have a conversation at speeds above 90 km/h.
They're also quite stiff. I had to drop the pressure by 0.2 atmospheres to make driving more comfortable. I guess that's the trade-off for their durability.
I've been impressed with these tires - they're not the best, but they get the job done and then some. Plus, they're a great value for money.
