Hey there, film fans!
I'm going to tell you about the movie Diabolique from 1996. This remake of the 1954 film is directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik, who's also worked on The Avengers from 98. I've got to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this one - it's bold, erotic, and totally captivating, even now, it feels fresh.
Click on the photo to improve its quality The movie's visuals really stood out to me, especially the way the computers from the 90s bring the time period of the story to life.
Click on the photo to improve its quality Click on the photo to improve its quality The plot is pretty intense - two beautiful women hatch a plan to poison this creep who treats them like dirt, then dump his body in the water and let it rot until someone finds the surprise. But the surprise has a way of turning on them.
Click to view the photo quality It's crazy, but some people disagree with this, like Women Against Violence. They argue that this isn't love - you can't love someone who treats you like that.A man can emotionally abuse a woman for years, but eventually, she'll lose her patience and might accidentally or intentionally exceed her self-defense limits. In the end, everyone suffers - the victim, the abuser, and his family. So many lives are ruined because of one man's cowardice and desire for validation.

This is the kind of horror I enjoy. It's scary, but it's not a body horror film.

Watching it is a real treat – you're engaged, interested, and left with plenty to think about when it comes to the roles of men and women, and the battle between the mystical and the rational.

Click to see a better photo ✔️ Main character Nicole Horner, played by Sharon Stone. Click to see a better photo It's clear that the only reason I watched this movie was because of Sharon Stone's big name and interest in films like Basic Instinct. The character of Sharon Stone in this film is seductive, cunning, and ruthless. Click to see a better photo She's the ultimate femme fatale. In this 1996 film, Nicole Horner's character isn't as pure as in other erotic films with Sharon Stone. Click to see a better photo What I like is that the actress with the perfect figure isn't always shown in flattering poses. Here, it's about the emotions, the acting, not the waistline, which is great.

Click on this to improve photo qualityThe constant smoking and tired expression, sometimes with a sarcastic look, gets on my nerves – it's like the character of Sharon Stone's negative persona. By the way, I think there's some product placement going on in the movie when it comes to smoking:Zig-Zag? In America? I quit. Nicorette!
Click to improve photo quality Click to improve photo quality I really loved the ocean wave color outfit paired with red lipstick.✔️ Isabelle Adjani plays Mia
What really got me hooked was the game, Isabelle's character, and her beauty. We're presented with a worn-out, oppressed housewife who works at a private school.
Click to improve photo quality She's a shy and innocent girl.
Click to improve photo quality Click to improve photo quality Click to improve photo quality Tap for improved photo quality I've got to give it up for the talented cast of American Horror Story. And let's talk about Kathy Bates - she's a total scene-stealer as Detective Shirley. No matter how she's dressed or what age she's playing, she always looks great on screen.
Kathy's not exactly a beauty queen, and she's got a few extra pounds going on. But that's the beauty of acting - you can still deliver a killer performance even if you're not a supermodel. And let me tell you, she brings the drama in American Horror Story.
✔ Kathy Bates is absolutely phenomenal as Detective Shirley.
xa0She's got talent pouring out of every pore. And it's not just her acting skills - she's got a certain... je ne sais quoi that makes her a joy to watch.

Click to improve photo quality Click to improve photo quality ✔️Mia's husband, Guy.I won't go into too much detail about him, as neither the actor nor his role really stood out to me, but he's necessary for the plot.
He's a total abuser, taking advantage of his wife and pushing her to her limits.
"I married a child. With each passing year, she's getting younger. She's worse than the boys she's teaching."
At the time of filming, this guy would've been considered a catch - a rugged, good-looking guy with a strong jawline and an air of confidence.

Tap this for better photo quality Horror movies aren't really my thing, but this one's a gem! I loved the old sculptures and the massive old school building - it reminded me of that English family's home in the movie that had me laughing so hard I almost cried. The main character's innocence and purity really won me over - I could watch her all day, she's such a great actress! On the other hand, the other female character's attempt at sensuality just comes across as tired and worried about her struggling life.
Click on this to improve photo quality Click on this to improve photo quality Click on this to improve photo quality I've noticed the actress is aging well. Red lipstick was only flattering in one scene. That's the exact shade that complements my skin tone without making my teeth look yellow. I got the tip from a blog post by Krygina on choosing lipsticks with a blue undertone.

I wasn't a fan of Sharon Stone's character – she comes across as cynical and overly sexual❏ Final verdict:

Even though the special effects are old-school, it's still super interesting to watch. The detective slowly unravels the mystery, and we follow along with him.
