Hello!
I do laundry at home about three times a day, so my dryer is always loaded.
I already have a good, large, high-quality freestanding dryer that meets all my needs – it just takes up a lot of space.
But occasionally, there are days when I do very little laundry, so I don't need to run the dryer at all. Still, sometimes I need to dry just a few items: a school uniform for the next morning, or 'this one sweater', or just some socks.
At first, I got creative and built contraptions like the one shown below. The downside of this setup is that it can't be placed anywhere – like on the kitchen counter.
Dryer contraptionEventually, I decided I needed to splurge and buy a compact dryer.I looked at both large freestanding dryers and portable ones, but they didn't meet my requirements for various reasons.
Initial requirements:
Under $2500, depending on qualitySmall. Ideally, 70-85 cm long, 40 cm wide.Easy to assemble myself. I found suitable options that required wall mounting, but that would have meant asking my husband for help.
Uvoo freestanding dryerThat's when I stumbled upon the Uvoo freestanding dryer.
Price and purchase location. 1390 rubles. Made in China. I bought it through the Ozon app from seller Elect.
I did consider a better-quality dryer made of good materials, but it cost 5700 rubles. I ruled it out since I already have a good freestanding dryer at home, and this one would be more of a supplement.
First purchase. I bought this dryer twice. The first time, I brought it home and was unpleasantly surprised. The quality was subpar, and the product looked like it had been tossed around on AliExpress (which, unfortunately, it had). Even the cheapest, most basic dryers on the market cost around 800 rubles and are of better quality.
Plus, the parts weren't very clean, and there were some scratches on the bars, while the white plastic was stained with black grease. It wasn't critical, but it wasn't very pleasant either.
So, when I noticed during assembly that the seller had included two identical side parts (not a left and right, but two right ones), I was even relieved that I could return this thing.
Order two. But time went on, and I continued to assemble my construction from the big dryer a couple of times a week, and I started thinking about buying the compact version again.
I looked for other options, but what suited me cost around 5,000 rubles. I decided to order this one again.
I checked the completeness of the order at the pickup point this time.
Packaging. The dryer came disassembled in this cardboard box.
Box
DescriptionKit. In the box were five thin metal tubes, three thick ones, two plastic legs, two plastic caps, and screws (they included 7 of them).
InstructionsThis time I noticed that the rods were without dents, and the plastic parts were clean.
Uvoo Napoleonic Uvoo Clothes DryerAs for the drawbacks, the dryer is too light and seems like it's better not to overload it.
Uvoo Napoleonic Uvoo Clothes DryerAssembly. I assembled the dryer myself fairly quickly, wiped it down, and hung some laundry on it. It held up, but when I moved it, it fell apart. A couple of days later, someone tightened the screws for me, and it became possible to move the dryer around.
Uvoo Flat Clothes Drying RackDimensions. The website has the dimensions listed, and in real life, the drying rack matches the description. (I removed the size chart from the image, so I won't include it in the review).
DimensionsUsage. I find it convenient to place the drying rack on the kitchen counter at night since our heating system is located there, and it dries the laundry faster. Previously, we hung clothes on the line, but after removing it due to safety regulations, I started using the drying rack.
Uvoo Flat Clothes Drying RackI move the drying rack to the bedroom during the day, and it doesn't take up much space. I don't need to fold or store it because I always have clothes to hang on it.
Uvoo Flat Clothes Drying RackOften, clothes don't fit on the drying rack, but I like how it frees up space in the house. Even when the amount of laundry exceeds the rack's capacity, I still use it instead of setting up a larger one.
Uvoo Flat Clothes Drying RackThis compact design makes it easy to stash it anywhere, which is perfect for unexpected guest visits. We often have those.
Fits through the doorwayImpressions. I'm satisfied with the drying rack, despite its flimsy build and mediocre quality. It's compact, takes up minimal space, and is the perfect size for me. For this price, I couldn't find anything better.
Uvoo Upright Clothes DryerI've got to say, the price is a bit of a letdown. 1390 rubles isn't cheap, but it's not outrageous either. For the quality you get, I think it should be around 900 rubles.
I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 for the idea, but only 3 for the quality. I'd say 4 is a fair assessment.
