My Honest Review of Bosch Cat Food: A Quality Choice with Some Quirks

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been feeding my cat Bosch cat food for years, and I gotta say, it's a solid choice for any feline friend. The sensitive digestion formula is a total game-changer for cats with sensitive tummies – it's been a lifesaver for mine. The ingredients are top-notch, with plenty of protein to keep your cat happy and healthy. However, I've noticed a few quirks that might make you think twice. For one, the aroma could be better – it's not the most appealing smell, but it's not terrible either. And while the build quality is impressive, the packaging can be a bit too dense for some cats' liking. But overall, Bosch cat food is a quality choice that's worth every penny – if you're willing to overlook a few minor issues.

Welcome to my review of Bosch cat food – I'm excited to share my honest thoughts with you!
I'm pretty particular about what I feed my cat, so I only buy high-quality food that's affordable. Cats are meat-eaters, after all, not bread-eaters.
I've been using Bosch for years, and I've got to say, it's a German brand that's really delivered. I've even written about their sensitive digestion formula in the past – it's a game-changer for cats with sensitive tummies.
Recently, I've been buying a lot of Gosbi from Spain, but when I was shopping, it wasn't available, so I went with Bosch instead.
Value for money
I bought this batch from Zoomarket in Minsk, and it was on sale by the kilogram – what a great deal!
Price for 1 kg of trout: 19.21 Belarusian rubles.
That's an amazing price, especially when you compare it to other brands like Pro Plan, which is basically twice as expensive, but I think the ingredients are weaker.
Check out my in-depth review of Pro Plan's ingredients and my not-so-glowing verdict with Krolik – I gave it 2 stars!
Build quality
I bought this on sale by the kilogram, and I don't remember the packaging, but I found out that Bosch has actually redesigned their packaging.
Sanabelle Bosch Adult with Trout (trout flavor)At the store, I had two options: chicken or trout. Last time, I got the chicken, but my cat was pretty chill about it. This time, I went with the trout, and he loved it way more.
Kibble Sanabelle Bosch Adult with Trout (with Trout)Color: standard brown, might be a bit darker than other brands.
Kibble Sanabelle Bosch Adult with Trout (with Trout)Crunch size: smaller than average. Objectively, they're on the small side.
Kibble Sanabelle Bosch Adult with Trout (with Trout)I think bigger cats like Maine Coons and British Shorthairs might find it a bit uncomfortable.
Kibble Sanabelle Bosch Adult with Trout (with Trout)Shape: the kibbles resemble little barrels. They're not flat, but slightly rounded.
Kibble Sanabelle Bosch Adult with Trout (with Trout)Smell: I found it a bit bitter.
Who's this kibble for:
for cats 1+ years oldwith relatively low activity levelsGera, my 13-year-old cat. He's neutered, picky, but not overly so.
I mostly feed him wet food (Mira-Top as the base), with dry food as a supplement.
I was pleasantly surprised by how lightweight this cat food is, but its lack of mobility is probably due to its age.
HOW HE REACTED TO THE FOOD
I was immediately intrigued when I saw him sniff the fish aroma - that's a good sign!
He picked up the scent of fish, which is a definite plus.
He sniffed the food and immediately started eating. Lunchtime is the perfect time for this!
He ate at a steady pace, and the kibble was easy to crunch.
Given his age, I expected some issues with chewing, but he seemed to handle it just fine. The food is also rich and meaty, which I love about Bosch - it's satisfying and filling.
I scooped out a generous serving for him.
Bosch Adult with Trout (with Trout)He devoured almost the entire serving in one go.
He didn't even ask for seconds, and instead went straight to sleep. I know he's happy when he starts circling the bowl for more - but in this case, he was completely satisfied.
INGREDIENTS
I'm really glad that the ingredient list is detailed and even includes the percentage of each ingredient.
I also noticed that when the food contains fish, it doesn't necessarily mean that fish is the main ingredient. In fact, chicken is always listed first, usually followed by fish in smaller quantities.
Same thing here. Chicken makes up 20% of the ingredients, while salmon is a mere 5% (but it's fresh, at least).
Personally, I think this is a bit misleading, especially for cat owners with allergies. Most allergies are caused by chicken protein, so if your cat has allergies, you'd want to avoid foods with chicken altogether. Unfortunately, this Bosch food isn't suitable for them.
But I guess this kind of deception has become so common that I'm not even surprised anymore.
On a positive note, I appreciate that this food is made from fresh chicken and salmon, which are both rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
What's more, there's no wheat in the ingredients, which is a major cost-cutting measure that some manufacturers take.
I also didn't find any added sugars.
Peas are a great addition, as they're a potential source of protein in the wild.
Not only do peas provide essential proteins and carbs, but they're also rich in vitamin B1 and C, potassium, iron, magnesium, copper, and dietary fiber (cellulose).
Blueberries help maintain the health of your cat's urinary system and prevent kidney stones.
Blueberries also help your cat (and humans, for that matter) flush out excess water and salts through their urine. It's no wonder that doctors often recommend drinking blueberry juice when you have a urinary tract infection.
There are plenty of other beneficial additives in this food, including bilberries, calendula, and more.
THE VERDICT
Despite the minor deception with the food's name (only 5% salmon), I'm a big fan of the Bosch brand and appreciate their commitment to quality food that's never caused any issues with my cat.
The stool remains consistent, the nutritional value is high, and the taste is incredibly appealing.
At this price point, Bosch has a very democratic pricing policy.
This cat food is the most budget-friendly in its class, despite being made in Germany.
