Big Pokrovskaya Street is a real gem in Nizhny Novgorod, and there are plenty of reasons why you'll love it. This bustling street connects four squares: Minin and Posharsky, Theatre Square, Gorky Square, and Lyadov Square. It's a hub of activity, with tourists and locals alike flocking to its many shops, cafes, and restaurants. In fact, it's often referred to as the Nizhny Novgorod Arbat.

This street is a photographer's paradise, with its cobblestone streets and lively atmosphere. You'll find a really beautiful building housing a children's dental clinic on the main street. Yep, you can even book an appointment for your kid with a dentist right in the city center. I used to go there myself to get my milk teeth extracted when I was a kid.

The abundance of sculptures on Big Pokrovskaya Street is another thing that caught my eye. There's even a famous goat statue that's a popular spot for photos – not just for kids and adults, but also for celebrities visiting Nizhny Novgorod.

One of the most interesting things about this street is the variety of characters in the game. There's a city guard, a boy playing the violin (whose bow keeps getting tangled up), a postman, a merchant, Evstigneyev, a photographer with a dog, and even a monument to Sberkot sitting on a bench.

Big Pokrovskaya Street has a wide range of cafes and restaurants. During the summer, the outdoor verandas are open. Prices cater to any budget. One of the most popular spots is actually the budget cafeteria, where you can enjoy a delicious, home-cooked meal without breaking the bank.

This street has another thing going for it: they're always resurfacing the cobblestones. It's like they're constantly under construction, but the new surface often looks pretty rough and they start tearing it up again. I'm not sure what's going on or why they can't just get it right the first time – it's a question that's been puzzling a lot of Nizhny Novgorod residents.

There are plenty of benches scattered along the street, even some bright red stools where you can sit and take a load off. The stools, by the way, are bolted to the ground, so they're not going anywhere.

Central Bank's building is absolutely stunning. I used to be able to book a guided tour in advance, but I'm not sure if that's still an option now.

This street is home to the courthouse and the philological university.

This street is always bustling – packed from morning till late evening, and even into the night. During holidays, a stroll down the street can be a real challenge due to the massive crowds, which can sweep you up and carry you along.

I've seen a lot of promoters handing out flyers or photographers with animals here.

The young crowd really knows how to show off their skills, dancing, playing musical instruments, and even performing songs - all in the hopes of making some cash, given how busy this place is.

It's also super cool to see the old tram, which looks amazing all lit up in the evening. This spot's a favorite for photo shoots.

This street has something for everyone. You can either splurge on the high-end shops and restaurants or just enjoy a free stroll with an ice cream or coffee in hand. There are plenty of opportunities to take great photos, catch a movie, visit a theater or museum, or just pop into some souvenir shops.

This street offers something for both kids and adults. For kids, there are museums like the House of the Giant, the Museum of Illusions, and others.

That's why it's no surprise that this street is so popular.
