Hello there!
I'm a huge seafood fan, and I've found that it's because I just love the simplicity of seafood recipes. Unlike fish, which can be a real pain to cook, seafood is easy to work with, and you can just chill and follow simple recipes. I mean, who doesn't love shrimp? I'd eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - kreevettes are my absolute favorite! I love adding them to soups, pasta dishes, burgers, paella, casseroles, omelets, and bowls.
I've noticed that kreevettes are super popular among Russians, and I get it - they're low-calorie, nutritious, and great for our health. The only downside is that their production isn't exactly eco-friendly.
So, what's the scoop on kreevettes that I want to share?
Fun facts about kreevettes
Shrimp have been a popular ingredient for ages - in ancient Greece and Rome, people loved cooking and eating them. And it's no wonder why: they're super easy to catch, since they tend to live in shallow waters, so in some areas, all you need to do is scoop up a bucket of water and you're good to go.
2. Shrimp can thrive in both saltwater and freshwater environments.
3. The largest shrimp species in the world is the black tiger shrimp - its body can grow up to 35 cm long, and it can weigh as much as 650 grams.
4. Did you know that some shrimp species, like the snapping shrimp, can actually kill small fish? It's true - thanks to their unique claw structure, they can produce a sound of up to 200-220 decibels, which is powerful enough to kill a small fish. And that's exactly what they use to hunt their prey.
5. In the summer months, some beaches in Japan light up at night - it's because of the bioluminescent shrimp living in the sand, which become visible during low tide.
6. In their natural habitat, shrimp typically live for anywhere from one to six years, but scientists have encountered some long-lived individuals that have made it to 20 years or more.
7. And get this - shrimp have a heart, and it's located in their head!
I've been using them for a week now, and I'm really impressed with the build quality - the buttons feel solid, and the battery life is longer than I expected.
Where to find and buy them, and some general info about shrimp
I've had to thaw them multiple times already. They're good for 12 months. You can find them in the VkusVilla app or search for them in stores, but I haven't seen them in stores yet, probably because they sell out quickly. You can also find them in the Megamarket and Lenta apps, but you'll need to keep an eye out.
About the Product
These are royal shrimp with tails. They're tender, sweet, and pretty large.
I recently tried Agama's royal shrimp, and I was blown away by their quality and convenience. The packaging is simple yet effective, and the shrimp themselves are fresh and of high quality.
About the Packaging
The shrimp are packaged in a double bag, with the first bag having a bright design, promotional photos of finished dishes, and a picture for meditation enthusiasts. The second bag is thicker and doesn't have any images or text. The packaging is simple, but it gets the job done, and the shrimp haven't been damaged even after being frozen for a long time. They've retained their appearance.
Through the transparent bag, I can see that they're peeled and of the same size. The packaging looks like it's of good quality and safe for consumers, with all the necessary information present. The brand name is printed in large letters on the front, and the nutrition information is on the back to attract customers who are health-conscious.
The bag is vacuum-sealed, which prevents bacteria from getting in. I think the manufacturer is taking quality and safety standards seriously.
Crab Sticks - What's in 'em?
Crab sticks contain 93% crab meat, with water making up no more than 7%. They're made in a facility that also processes shellfish and fish, so if you have any allergies, be aware.
Heart health, immunity, and nervous system benefits of crab - the good stuff!
I was really impressed with how krebitec helped me prevent heart disease. These low-calorie crustaceans are packed with protein and only 90-100 calories per 100 grams. They're super filling, easy to digest, and keep me feeling satisfied for longer. By incorporating them into my diet, I've been able to keep my weight in check, cholesterol levels under control, and blood sugar levels stable. The mineral-rich composition of krebitec also has a positive impact on heart health. The B vitamins support vascular health, while the omega-3 fatty acids are a key player in preventing cardiovascular disease.
Another benefit I've noticed is that krebitec helps me feel more youthful. As we age, our bodies start to lose muscle mass, so it's essential to pay attention to our diet. The older we get, the more crucial it is to consume enough protein to maintain muscle mass. This is especially important for guys like me, who need around 155-185 grams of protein per day to support muscle health. Women, on the other hand, require 120-170 grams. Krebitec delivers 19 grams of protein per 100 grams, which is a great indicator. The high vitamin and mineral content also keeps me feeling energized and active.
I've also noticed that krebitec helps boost my immune system. The vitamin C, E, and antioxidants in these crustaceans support my body's natural defenses, helping me fight off viruses and bacteria. This is especially important during the off-season, but it's also crucial during the summer months.
Lastly, I've been impressed with the benefits of krebitec for my brain health. These crustaceans are a rich source of astaxanthin, a carotenoid that protects brain cell membranes, improves memory, and attention, and even helps prevent neurodegenerative diseases.
On the nutritional value
One thing I love about this product is the complete absence of carbs, which is perfect for me since I'm trying to limit my daily intake to 50 grams. I don't bother counting every single carb in each food item - I just make sure it's a small amount, and that's come from experience. At first, I used to count everything.
I've tried using shrimp on a diet - here's my expert opinion!
Shrimp can be a lifesaver when you're on a diet, as it helps suppress hunger and speeds up your metabolism. But, it's worth noting that shrimp does contain some fat and carbs. Don't go overboard, though - a healthy adult can safely consume up to 300 grams of shrimp per day, and excessive consumption can lead to allergic reactions.
While a shrimp-only diet can help you shed those extra pounds, it's not just about eating shrimp. It's about following a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and legumes. Shrimp is just one source of protein, and it's not a substitute for a healthy, well-rounded diet.
My first impressions of the shrimp - the good stuff!
I can tell just by looking at them that these shrimp are fresh, not frozen, and the producer hasn't added any water to bulk them up.
I was really impressed with the external quality - the shrimp shells were cleaned, the tails were neat and smooth. They're basically ready to eat, just thaw them and add to your favorite dishes. If you boil them and then add to hot food, they won't be juicy.
I thaw the shrimp, you can put them in the microwave for a few minutes, or leave them in the fridge for 5 hours - they'll thaw slowly.
Texture after proper thawing doesn't disappoint, it's springy, dense, the shrimp don't spread out.
What's the smell like?
After thawing, they have a subtle smell, characteristic of shrimp. It's not fishy, but rather oceanic, salty, and cool!!!
Color
Even, pale pink, transparent glaze, visible intestines, and black spots on the surface of the bellies.
I'm still of the same opinion - shrimp are great on their own, no need to add them to fancy dishes.
My go-to dishes are Caesar salad with shrimp, pasta with creamy sauce and seafood, paella, and bruschetta with shrimp (the simplest appetizer).
My Caesar recipe with shrimp is actually something I've shared on another platform before - the idea is to buy a pre-made salad mix, your preferred sauce, Parmesan cheese, hard-boiled eggs, cherry tomatoes, and of course, shrimp. Combine all these ingredients and serve them up nicely - it's a super simple, classic recipe. At Agama, three servings of Caesar salad with king prawns cost me around 900-950 rubles, which works out to 300 rubles per serving. In a mid-range restaurant, you'd be hard-pressed to get a full meal for less than 1000 rubles. At home, I get a decent-sized serving, with 9 shrimp per serving - I can easily eat one serving all day without needing to snack (the sauce, cheese, veggies, and seafood all provide essential nutrients and calories). By the way, go ahead and check the calorie count - I reckon one large serving of Caesar salad has around 800-1000 kcal.
I think Agama's cleaned shrimp is a game-changer product – one pack can last you for several days. You can add them to hot dishes, make snacks, and feel satisfied. Plus, you'll be doing your body a favor, as long as you consume them in moderation. If you're on a budget, I wouldn't recommend cooking shrimp in a batter or shrimp bowls, as it won't be very filling. Instead, quickly make a paella or pasta, and you'll feel like you've had a satisfying meal.
Lastly, I'll share my favorite recipe, which is impossible to mess up!!!
You can try this dish today, and I'm sure you have heavy cream and garlic at home. Just grab some king prawns if you feel like it.
Here's what you'll need for a few servings:
Shrimp
Garlic
Butter
Heavy cream (20-33%)
Dry spices
How I make it?
I heat up a skillet, melt a pat of butter, and add heavy cream.
I add the shrimp to the hot butter, sprinkle with garlic and spices.
I cook them for a bit, and you'll know when it's time to take them off intuitively.
I have to say, this dish turned out amazing, and it's a great addition to rice or any other side dish - it's light and nutritious!
My final verdict
I'm giving Agama's prawns five stars - here's why: They're low in calories, making them perfect for a diet and weight loss.
They're easy to digest, and they don't overload your system.
I feel like prawns are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and protein - they're a great option for people who are run down or have a lack of energy. When I'm feeling exhausted, a plate of prawns really helps me recover quickly.
They're also super affordable, and you get a huge pack for a relatively small price.
They're a versatile option - you can have them as fast food or as part of a fancy meal.
