Detangling Disaster: My Experience with the Solomei Comb
summarizeEditor's Summary
I gotta say, I've tried my fair share of detangling combs, but the Solomei one is a total letdown. It's lightweight, I'll give it that, but that's where the good stuff ends. I've had to replace it multiple times because it's just so flimsy, and cleaning it is a nightmare. If you've got delicate hair like me, you might want to steer clear of this one.

I've got super fine, thin, and bonus points for being ash-blonde hair. I'm not complaining, I love my light locks and that's that. A few years ago, I found the perfect detangling comb for my hair, and I'm still using it to this day. My hair hasn't been a knotty mess in ages, and I don't get those pesky tangles at the ends. Other than that, my hair's maintenance is just a regular routine...
I used to have a bunch of old combs with white heads, but I got rid of them and now I only use 'safe' ones. My first purchase was a cheap Tangle Teezer knockoff, but I was annoyed that I couldn't properly clean it (water would get inside). Eventually, 'ventilated' combs became popular, and I stocked up on those. I got two for myself, one for my mom, and one for my daughter. They didn't exactly rave about them, but I'm a total fan. My comb is still going strong after over 2 years, some of the teeth have bent, but I still love using it. It's been with me to work, to the countryside, and on trips.
Before International Women's Day, I went to ZYA to redeem my gift card and decided to try out Solomeya. At the time, there were two versions - jasmine, grape, and strawberry. The strawberry one smelled the best to me, and I just love that fruit.
DETANGLING COMB FOR DRY AND WET HAIR Solomeya. It comes in a nice, hygienic packaging, and the comb itself is wrapped in a plastic box. There's some info about the comb on the box, and it also has a protective seal to prevent tampering.

The handle is great, it's so sturdy, and it's got the brand's logo on it.
I've got to say, this comb looks pretty sweet - it's even gift-worthy, and I'm sure anyone who gets it will appreciate it. The smell, though? Absolutely amazing - I find myself sniffing it every five minutes. But, to be honest, I just don't feel like using it!For my head, the bristles are just way too fine and scratchy - they're basically just driving me nuts. That being said, I do agree that the comb is safe to use on both wet and dry hair. I use it to detangle masks, and since it's got some airflow, I can dry my hair with a blow dryer without any issues. It's also heat-resistant.
I'll be the first to admit it - this comb hasn't become my go-to, but I still get a kick out of using it. I mean, who wouldn't think of that?
I also like that these types of combs are easy to clean and don't require drying.
Looking at the pics, I'm actually kinda bummed out. Although other reviews say the opposite, I guess this comb just isn't for sensitive scalps like mine. But the manufacturer says it's specifically designed for that type of skin...
My daughter, on the other hand, hasn't complained at all - she says she loves using it.
This comb doesn't cause tangles or static, and it's actually pretty gentle on my hair - it doesn't pull or break it. It does its job pretty well, all things considered. Of course, I do have to factor in that I use a pretty intense hair care routine.
Rascheska Solyomaya is a pretty cool hair accessory for girls, with a delicious strawberry scent. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for my skin, so I don't really feel like using it.
