Hello everyone!
I've got super long hair, and I've been dealing with dry, brittle, and split ends for ages. That's why I'm super picky about my hair care tools and accessories. A good hairbrush is basically essential for me, and a bad one can totally ruin my hair, cause breakage, and even lead to split ends. I've been using the same Tangle Teezer Angel for almost 7 years, but it's finally reached the end of its life. I was on the hunt for a new one, and that's when I stumbled upon Solomeya's aromatic hairbrushes. I picked one up, and I have to say, I was blown away - I loved it so much that I ended up buying the mini version too, which I'll be reviewing today.
✔️ Where to buy
You can find Solomeya's hairbrushes in big beauty stores like Le Temps des Cerises, Golden Apple, BFF, and Riviera, as well as on popular marketplaces like Ozon, Wildberries, and Yandex Market. I bought mine on Ozon.
✔️ Price
The price varies depending on the discount and, weirdly enough, the scent. The more popular the fragrance, the higher the price. I noticed this trend only on marketplaces, though.
I got my hairbrush for 342 rubles on Ozon with a discount, and the other scents were pricier - I'll get into that later.
✔️ Packaging
The hairbrush comes in a classic transparent plastic box, just like my old Tangle Teezer. It's got the brand's logo on the top right corner, and the design is super simple - just black and yellow. I like that you can see the hairbrush through the packaging, so you're not buying a mystery item.
The back of the box has more detailed info about the product, including the fact that it's suitable for both wet and dry hair. There's also an infographic highlighting the benefits of the hairbrush, which we'll discuss later.
At the bottom, you'll find the usual stuff - ingredients, manufacturer info, expiration date, production date, website link, and a QR code for easy access.
I'll be reviewing the mini version today, so stay tuned for that!First thing I noticed when I opened the packaging was that it's super easy to open, but you gotta remove this sticky transparent circle thingy to make sure nobody's opened it before. ✔️ The body of the comb
The body of this thing is made of this super-smooth plastic that's an absolute joy to touch. It's not slippery, but it's still silky smooth. On the back, you can see this little snake design that shows you where the teeth are. That's what makes this comb so great - it can follow the curves of your head, and it's also super flexible so you can use it with different hand movements.
Now, the brand logo is on the top in white, and it's pretty hard to notice against the bright yellow background. From my experience, the coating does come off over time, but that's not a big deal for me.
On the sides, there are these little 'wings' that make it super easy to hold the comb in your hand. And trust me, it does make a difference - the comb feels really comfortable to hold, even when you're using it a lot.
When you squeeze it, you can see that the curves of the snake design stick out a bit. But honestly, it doesn't affect the way it works at all.
On the front, you've got the teeth. The surface is the same as the back, nice and smooth.
The teethThis comb's got a lot of teeth, and they're all along the working part of the body. They're arranged in a way that the longer ones are in the middle, and the shorter ones are on the sides. That way, it can get into all the different levels of your hair and really detangle it.
The teeth are pretty long, so they're great for thick, curly hair - they can get deep into the hair and really get it untangled.
I've gotta say, I was really impressed with how well the bristles were finished at the ends. There's no excess plastic or rough edges that could snag on your hair. The Solomeya totally nailed it with this. Nothing gets caught in the hair or breaks it.
Another thing I noticed is that the bristles have a conical shape - thick at the base and thin at the tip. But the transition is super smooth, so it doesn't even stand out. I think this helps with detangling, especially when you're dealing with fine hair.
ScentI was really looking forward to trying the lemon scent, but unfortunately, it's a total letdown. It smells exactly like those cheap air fresheners from my childhood - overpowering and synthetic. I was really bummed, especially after loving the grape and strawberry scents from my previous Solomeya purchase.
Of course, scent is super subjective, but if you're really sensitive to artificial fragrances, you might want to steer clear of this one. The smell does linger for a long time, though - my Solomeya still smells like grape after eight months, so I've had to limit my use of it.
I've been using it in the shower, but I was really hoping for a more pleasant scent.
✔️ Detangling
Despite the scent issue, the Solomeya does a great job of detangling my hair. It lives up to all the promises the manufacturer made:
— it's amazing for wet hair;
— it's perfect for use in the shower, whether you're combing out tangles or applying a mask;
— it's great for massaging your scalp;
— and it works just as well on dry hair.
I've gotta say, I've fallen in love with using this comb in the shower. First of all, the smell isn't as overpowering, and secondly, it's amazing at distributing hair products evenly, without tugging or causing breakage. It's actually really gentle and great at detangling.✔️ Travel format
The size of the comb is super convenient. I've got another one with a different scent that I always take with me on trips, and it's also great for the pool. Plus, it's always in my purse.
✔️ Verdict
I've gotta say, the travel-sized Solomeya comb smells amazing – except for the smell of the lemon-scented cleaning products that come with it. Ugh, that chemical stench is a total turnoff, and I get why they're cheaper now – nobody wants to buy them because of the smell!
But aside from that, the comb is a total rockstar: the price is right, the quality is top-notch, the teeth are perfect, and I love the bright yellow color – it's always a mood-booster. And the best part? It actually does a fantastic job of combing my hair without causing any damage.
Unfortunately, the terrible smell is enough to bring my rating down to 3 stars. I'd love to give it a lower rating, but the quality of the product is just too good to let that happen.
So, I wouldn't recommend buying this one, but if you can get it in a different scent, go for it!

Girls, I've never used a worse comb than this one!
