Hello everyone!

Last year, coffee machines started popping up in our city at "Pyaterochka". This year, "Magnit" and "Dobryy Kofe" followed suit. And now, cafes are even selling coffee to-go. As a coffee enthusiast with a weather dependency, I buy coffee frequently. But one day, I started thinking about how much resources are wasted on paper cups that just end up getting thrown away.

And then, just in time, I saw an ad that told me about coffee containers and how I needed one.

What's a coffee container? It's a vessel with double walls made of stainless steel. You could say it's basically the same as a thermos, but with a recognizable shape, similar to a tulip, and a standard volume of 350 ml.

Design

It comes in a branded package.

I ordered the coffee container on VTB. I chose the model in a rich purple color, which is almost the brand's signature color... The package comes with a plastic lid with a hole for drinking or straws (not included in the package).

The plastic lid with a valve is unfortunately not included in the package, you need to either order it separately or choose a different model.

How to use it?It's pretty much like using a regular thermos. I usually use the coffee container in the coffee zone... The volume is 350 milliliters, roughly the same as a standard paper cup. So, the coffee container fits easily into any coffee machine.

Coffee machine in "Magnit"

Coffee machine in "Dobryy Kofe"You can ask the barista to pour your drink into the coffee container instead of a paper cup. I'm still a bit shy about it, but maybe I'll try it sometime. It's super convenient to drink on the go, during a walk around the city. The "tulip" shape turned out to be really comfortable. The cup is easy to hold in your hand, and it doesn't even slip, despite the smooth surface. What I was really happy about was that it doesn't get hot at all from the hot drink thanks to the double walls.

When it comes to temperature, the coffee cup really keeps the heat better than a paper cup. Yeah, because of the hole in the lid (which doesn't have a valve) the drink will still cool down, but it happens way slower. I noticed that in a paper cup, my coffee turns into 'ice-coffee' on the way home (around 10 minutes) even before I get there. In the coffee cup, I can bring home the same time with a drink that's not scalding, but still warm.I've been using the coffee cup more often than regular cups at home. It's convenient and looks great - that's why I don't see any reason not to.

Were there any drawbacks to using it?

Actually, yes. On my coffee machine, the spout sometimes dips down, which causes the coffee cup to get stuck. It's not very convenient to get it out. But that's a problem with the coffee machine, not the cup.

I'm not a fan of drinking through the hole in the lid. If the coffee is really hot, the steam rises through the small hole, and I end up scalding myself. I've had situations where I've had to drink it right there, next to the machine, or risk spilling it all over the place.

Another thing that surprised me was the issue with pouring tea into the 'Five'. The machine pours way too much. I know I can adjust the water level, but I've had times where I've missed the 'Cancel' button, and ended up with a full cup. I had to carefully pour it out, right next to the machine, or risk spilling it all over the place.

I've also heard that the coffee cups don't fit in the cup holders in the car. Luckily, I don't have a car.

Finally, the coffee cup fits in a small backpack, even leaving some space for my large power bank. However, it takes up a lot of space and changes the shape of the backpack. So, if the backpack is small, it's not very convenient to carry it around.

I understand that buying the coffee cup was an emotional decision, but I won't consider it a waste of money. It's a really great product that can also help reduce paper cups.
