  • The only downside is that they can wrinkle a bit if you're not careful when hanging them.
  • They do require some gentle ironing to get them looking their best, but it's worth the effort.
  • I wish they came in more color options, but I'm happy with the natural hue I chose.
  • They're a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for - high-quality materials and craftsmanship.
  • I've noticed that they can shed a bit during the first few washes, but it's not a major issue.
  • They're not the most eco-friendly option out there, but Kostroma is working on sustainable practices, which is great to see.

I'm glad to be one of the first reviewers on this platform, and I wrote this review back in 2018:

Museum of Wooden Architecture 'Kostroma Slaboda'

This isn't wallpaper; I'm actually walking around in the museum):

Kostroma, Museum of Wooden Architecture, 2018

Since then, I've had pleasant memories of Kostroma living in my heart.

From there, I brought back a linen dress as a souvenir, which turned out to be high-quality and comfortable to wear.

And now I have another great product from Kostroma linen - curtains for my bedroom window.

I bought them on Ozon 1.5 years ago.

But the renovation took so long that I only managed to hang them up yesterday.

I'll tell you all about it.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

Curtain 1 piece, 145*300 cm, Linen, Flax, Natural, Beige

Production: Kostroma Textile

Purchase location: Ozon

Price: 2020 rubles (I bought 2 pieces, it cost 4040 rubles)

The brand has an official website, but the prices are higher.

Currently, Ozon doesn't have the exact same size, but there's a similar one for the kitchen: Article 1973198173

Composition:

57% Linen, 43% Flax

MY IMPRESSION OF THE PRODUCT

I'm satisfied!

Yes, buying something based on the product image in the card is quite a challenge, especially for something this expensive.

But I relied on my experience with online shopping and the expertise of the craftsmen from Kostroma.

And I wasn't disappointed.

The curtains turned out perfectly, in terms of quality, size, and design:

However, I did have to put in some extra effort before it looked this good.

USAGE EXPERIENCE

IroningWhen I unpacked the curtain, I realized I'd have to break out the iron:

I hate ironing so much that I even fear it.

So, I bought what's called a 'liquid iron.'

Unfortunately, it was a disaster:

Faberlic Refresher for clothes and textiles

But I decided to give the product another chance and, again, it was a disaster.

I was blown away by how thin and almost transparent this fabric is - it's like it's barely there.

But when I sprayed it with a refresher, it didn't even get damp.

So, I break out the iron.

At first glance, it glides over the fabric like a charm.

Set it to linen, filled the iron with water...and steamed one curtain.

The iron's reservoir was completely drained, but the wrinkles and creases were still pretty prominent.

I gave it another go.

But when I hung it up, there were still some noticeable wrinkles:

Then I grabbed a water sprayer and gave the hanging curtains a good soaking.

Bingo!

After it dried, everything smoothed out.

I'm planning to hang them on the window after washing them this summer, hoping to avoid ironing altogether.

Hang

The curtain comes with a pre-attached rod pocket:

I have 12 hooks per curtain.

Calculating the spacing is a bit tricky, but doable.

Placed the hooks:

I ended up with one hook every 6-7 pleats.

Next, I need to tighten the cord to secure the top of the curtain.

There are special threads for this.

They stick out afterwards, and you can tuck them between the curtain and the rod pocket.

Not perfect, but the threads are hardly noticeable from below.

Done:

As you can see, my assembly job isn't exactly a work of art.

Using wider curtains might produce a more polished look, but it would also be way more expensive.

I achieved this result with the following dimensions:

Window width: 1.4 mCurtain rod length: 2.4 mTotal curtain width: 1.4 x 2 = 2.8 m

So, to get this draping effect, you can use a curtain width equal to twice the window width:

Now, let's take a look at the length.

As you can see, the curtain is hanging elegantly on the floor:

My husband was not a fan at all. He's not used to new things, that's for sure.

I had to explain to him that the linen fabric gives a great wrinkle resistance after washing.

He was adamant that I shouldn't cut it down immediately.

I'm hoping that when I wash it, the curtains will shorten on their own. I hate cutting and hemming even more than ironing, to be honest.

Anyway, I don't plan on doing that (don't tell my husband, though!)

Verdict

I'll say it again: I'm happy with the tulle.

It lets in enough light.

In the background, I have a roller blind with blackout:

With it, the room is completely dark:

It's the same color as the tulle.

That's the perfect combo.

Wishing you all beautiful tulle!
