Johnson's Vita-Rich Restoring with Raspberry Extract Review
Hello everyone!
I have to admit, I'm still a fan of good old-fashioned bar soap. Liquid soap just can't compete with the way bar soap leaves my skin feeling. The last thing I'd want to do is switch to a new, untested product. I can live with changing up the scent or brand every now and then, but my trusty bar soap will always be by my side.
This time around, I tried Johnson's Body Care Vita-Rich Restoring with Raspberry Extract. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I'm glad I gave it a shot.
Description
Johnson's Vita-Rich soap with raspberry extract has a gentle restoring effect, actively cleansing and helping to restore the skin. The protective ingredient in the formula prevents dryness, and all you need to do is lather it up and rinse with water. This soap leaves a lovely, refreshing feeling and a pleasant scent that lasts, giving your skin a healthy glow.

I used to be able to find bar soap anywhere, but lately, it's becoming harder to come by. Last week, I stopped by Magnit Cosmetics and they were completely out of stock. Luckily, online marketplaces like Megamarket have got my back. I placed an order and a few days later, my soap arrived via Sberlogistics.
The soap comes wrapped in a paper bag, with a glossy sticker on top. The packaging itself isn't new – I've seen similar bags on soap from the 80s, the only difference being the design.
While the packaging shows some lovely natural ingredients, the design didn't quite win me over. The background gradient from white to purple is a bit of a weird touch, and the illustration of raspberries and blueberries on the left side looks nice, but the text on the right side is a bit overwhelming. I had to squint to read Johnson's the first time around. Plus, the name is a bit of a mouthful and it's in English, while the Russian translation is just a few words – восстанавливающее мыло с экстрактом малиины. They could have adapted it to the target market.
The back of the packaging has all the necessary information about the product, manufacturer, and more. One of the most important bits is the ingredient list, which I'll quote below for easier reading:
Sodium palmate, sodium palm kernelate, aqua, glycerin, rubus idaeus (raspberry), fruit, propylene glycol, paraffinum liquidum, palm kernel acid, sodium chloride disodium edta, tetrasodium edta, tetrasodium etidronate, parfum, ci 17200, ci 42090, ci 77891.
Unboxing and Packaging
I've got to say, the packaging on the back is spot on. I'm used to having some information stuck on there that's hard to read, but this is different. It's all clearly laid out and looks great.
Opening the packaging is a breeze - just pull the sides apart and you're good to go. There's even a 'best by' date on the side. I was supposed to include a photo of this, but I seem to have misplaced it. Sorry about that!
First Impressions
As soon as I opened the packaging, I was hit with the scent of raspberry - it's strong, rich, and all-natural. The soap itself is a bit on the heavier side, too - I'm used to 70-90g, but this one's a whopping 125g.
The soap is a lovely shade of pale purple and has the company's logo right in the middle.
Using the Soap
I've been using this soap on my sink for daily hand-washing and it's been a game-changer. The first day, the top layer didn't produce a lot of lather, but the cleaning was still pretty good.
After a few days, the writing on the soap started to fade a bit, but it still produced plenty of rich lather.
Using soap is a pretty straightforward process, but I'll include the instructions from the packaging just in case:
Wet your hands, then apply the soap until it forms a lather. Massage the lather onto your skin, then rinse with warm water.
The after-scent is still pretty nice, too - it lasts for about 30 minutes. I've never experienced that before - usually the scent only lasts for a few minutes while you're using the soap.
The soap does a great job of cleaning everyday grime with just one use. If you need to get rid of dirt from gardening, you might need to repeat the process a couple of times.
My skin feels soft and nice after using the soap - a big plus. I usually experience either dryness or a bit of tightness after using soap, but this one seems to have combined the two opposites.
My skin feels clean and looks healthy, too. There's no dryness or tightness at all, even visually.
This soap has been sitting in my soap dish on the sink for a while now and it's not even showing any signs of softening. I'm not sure how it would fare in water, but it's definitely not losing its shape or texture.
Long-Term Use
The scent is a little overwhelming, to be honest – it's like a strong lavender aroma that fills the entire bathroom. But in a weird way, it's actually really pleasant and natural-smelling. It's not overpowering when you enter, and you can still sense it. It's like a combination of body wash and air freshener. I've been using it for a week now, and it's been a lifesaver since our drain got clogged and we can't fix it yet. It's doing a great job of masking the smell and reducing the need for air fresheners.
Not Suitable for Face Washing
I tried using it as a face wash once, thinking it would be quicker, but nope – it didn't budge my makeup. I ended up with a panda mask from the broken-down mascara and eyeliner, while my sebum and other impurities were washed away. My skin felt a bit tight and dry in the morning, but that's a rare occurrence with soap. I used a micellar water to clean my eyes separately.
Conclusion
After using it for three months now, I've barely scratched the surface – it's still intact and lathers evenly. I'm confident it'll last me another month or so.
All in all, I'm really happy with this purchase. For 125 grams of soap at 99 rubles, it's an amazing value in today's market. Considering the product itself is fantastic, it's even more satisfying. I'd definitely recommend it!
