Hyundai Getz Review
My experience with the Hyundai Getz has been a rollercoaster of emotions, both good and bad.
I'll start from the beginning. I learned to drive with a Kalya and chose an automatic transmission. My friends opted for a manual transmission, but my husband advised me to go with an automatic, citing the fact that many of our cars had automatic transmissions. He also mentioned that I struggled with manual transmissions in the past. Many of my friends had difficulty with manual transmissions after their first try, so I opted for an automatic. It was much easier, especially in city traffic, as I didn't have to constantly shift gears and worry about the clutch.
That's why I chose the Kalya. However, my husband and I later traveled in a Fit, Blubird, and X-Trail. We both found it difficult to navigate in the same car. My husband would often say, 'Why did you turn like that?' or 'Why did you take that route?' I'd think to myself, 'Why did I turn like that?' So, we decided to get a second car, and that's when we bought the Hyundai Getz.
Initially, my reaction to the Getz wasn't great, but my husband told me, 'The Getz is great, very reliable.' I replied, 'No, this is my car.' However, after seeing a few other cars, I changed my mind and fell in love with the Getz.
Now, I affectionately call the Getz 'Götzik.' Since I started driving the Getz, it's undergone a significant transformation. I've grown to love 'Götzik.'
Let me share a part of my story. Now, I'm very fond of 'Götzik.'
I've been using the Getz for a week now, and I'm still trying to figure out why I'm so attached to it. At first, I thought it was because it's a small car, making it easy to park and maneuver in the city.
I used to struggle finding parking spots in my previous car, but now it's a breeze.
Now, I can easily fit into parking spots.
The Getz's design is excellent, especially when it comes to visibility. The rearview camera is positioned in a way that doesn't obstruct my view, unlike my previous car, the Honda Fit. The large front windshield also provides excellent visibility.
The base of the car is a bit small, but I didn't experience any issues with it, even when compared to cars like the Honda Civic and Nissan Blubird. The key is to be careful when navigating around the car's edges.
Now, let's talk about the optics. The headlights are excellent, providing good visibility in both near and far distances. I've had the Getz for 14 years now, and I've noticed that the headlights' performance hasn't degraded over time.
However, I do have an issue with the Getz's fog lights, which I'll likely replace soon.
The headlights are a major letdown, as they tend to fog up quickly and then shatter. They seem poorly designed, and I'm not sure why they're positioned so low. Perhaps it's because they're exposed to heat, which causes them to fog up and then shatter when it rains or snows.
Now, let's take a look at the rear of the car.
The rear design is excellent, with a large and sleek shape.
The taillights and rear fog lights are excellent.
They give the car an aggressive look, but the headlights are actually very good. When you turn on the rear fog lights, it's like driving in daylight, even at night.
I was about to forget something.
I thought the small lights on the sides of the car might be a problem, but I quickly got used to them. They're actually quite small and don't bother me anymore.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the car's design. The low and short hood, large front windshield, good lighting, door and bumper lights, large antenna, and more all contribute to a great driving experience.
From here on, we can see the car in more detail.
The interior is not luxurious, but it has all the necessary features.
For example, the car has four electric window regulators, adjustable mirrors, and a block.
The steering wheel is small and comfortable.
It's easy to adjust the interior and exterior temperatures.
The car has a clock.
The dashboard is well-designed, with all the necessary information easily accessible. However, one drawback is the lack of a temperature gauge for the coolant. Of course, if the temperature is high, a red symbol appears. But I ask, why not have a gauge? It would make things much easier.
I've been using the car for over a month now, and I was surprised to discover some extra features. The car has a cabin heater, front and rear window heaters, and even a heater for the front seats. The heater is very effective and works well.
The automatic transmission is an 8-speed unit. Like most automatic transmissions, it can be a bit finicky. However, I've found that using the 2nd gear and shifting to 6th or 7th gear in normal driving conditions works well. But when accelerating, you can feel a slight delay. This is normal, and I don't use this feature much.
Now, let's take a look at the trunk. The material quality is excellent. The trunk is sturdy and quiet. I've placed items in the trunk without hearing any noise.
The trunk has a lid, and when you open it, you'll find a spacious area. The area is small, but I've placed a few items without any issues. There's also a storage compartment in the trunk's lid. This compartment is very useful, and I've stored a few items in it.
If you can't store items in the trunk, you can open the compartment behind the rear seats. When you open it, you'll find a large area. This area is very spacious and can hold a lot of items.
This way, you can store a lot of items in the compartment behind the rear seats.
With the increased cargo space, you can easily fit a stroller or other items.
Now, let's talk about the space for the driver and passengers. Although the car looks large from the outside, my friend, who is 1.90 meters tall, was able to fit comfortably inside. However, the seats are a bit firm, which can be felt during long drives, especially in city traffic.
Finally, let's take a look at the engine. My Hyundai Getz has a 1.4-liter engine with 97 horsepower. I find this power to be more than sufficient for city driving. The engine is smooth and responsive, making the car feel fast and agile.
The car's maintenance is also easy. My partner and I have performed the necessary repairs and oil changes ourselves. The car's manual is easily accessible online, and the spare parts are relatively affordable compared to other models. However, we did experience some difficulty accessing the oil in the torque converter.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Hyundai Getz. I've been getting excellent fuel efficiency, with around 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers in city driving and 6 or 5 liters in longer trips. I think the Getz is an ideal first car for both men and women. My partner was very fond of the car during the 10-day test period. The Getz is a small but fast and agile car. My car has 116,000 kilometers on it and still runs smoothly without needing an oil change. The motor performance is still excellent.
Today, January 1, 2026, I'm writing this review. I hope to complete it when I return.
I've been using the car for a week now, and I was surprised by the material quality. The buttons are sturdy, and the battery life is longer than expected. However, I did experience a problem with the delivery of the car.
I didn't experience this issue, but my car had another vehicle inside. On December 29, I had an accident, and my car's front was hit by a Renault Logan. Then, a Hyundai Creta was pushed to the side of the road. Then, my Renault Duster arrived and stopped at the side of the road. I was also pushed to the side of the road. My car is a Hyundai Getz.
I loved the car, but now I'm glad to be rid of it. However, getting rid of the car turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Wishing you a safe journey.
