Editor's Summary
I visited the Underworld Oceanarium in Pattaya with high expectations, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. The aquarium's layout was confusing, and the exhibits seemed small compared to other oceanariums I've been to. The staff were friendly, but the overall experience felt underwhelming. If you're looking for a unique experience, you might want to consider other options in Pattaya.

We're huge fans of aquariums and try to visit at least one during every family vacation. We've already been to the Sea Life in Bangkok twice and loved it - check out our review here. So, when we found ourselves in Pattaya, we couldn't resist stopping by the Underworld Oceanarium. It's located on the Sukhumvit Highway, and getting there by taxi is a breeze. If you live in the area, you can take a tuk-tuk to the end of Tepprasit Road and walk for 10 minutes. The nearby Tesco Lotus and Macro supermarkets serve as a good landmark.
AquariumWe bought our tickets through Trip.com, but when we got to the ticket counter, we found that the price was lower on a Chinese booking site. It's always more convenient to pay with a credit card from your home country, rather than exchanging cash.
Dry Crab. SizeAs soon as we walked in, it was clear that the oceanarium was struggling financially. The lighting was poor, the corridors were narrow and worn out, and there were issues with the decorations. However, the staff were friendly and did a great job of keeping the aquariums clean. We even got a photo with one of the aquarists and our son, who was excited to show off his scuba gear.
Moray EelWe spent about 7 minutes walking through the aquarium, but to be honest, there wasn't much to see. The tanks were mostly empty, and the selection of marine life was limited. We were expecting a lot more, especially considering the Sea Life in Bangkok was so much better.
Large FishThe highlight of our visit was definitely the fish-feeding session. One of the staff members in a wetsuit was feeding the sharks, rays, and fish, and it was absolutely captivating. The whole crowd was glued to the glass, watching in awe as the staff member carefully fed the animals. It was definitely worth the visit, and we recommend checking the schedule in advance to catch the feeding session.
Underwater Toys...We were expecting a lot more from the Underworld Oceanarium, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to our expectations. The poor lighting and lack of marine life were major letdowns. On the other hand, the staff were super friendly, and the fish-feeding session was a real highlight. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping by, but don't go in with high hopes. We'd recommend it as a quick stop, but don't expect to spend hours there.
