My Unexpected Tangle Teezer Purchase: A Review of the Detangling Brush with Handle

I'm a big fan of tangles, but getting them to stay in place can be a real pain, so I was on the lookout for a more manageable comb. My requirements were pretty straightforward: a comb with a comfortable handle, the ability to straighten and curl hair, and a cool-touch design to prevent damage to my locks.

I was pleased with the value for money and the ergonomic design. I've always been a fan of round combs, and it's great to see them used in salons too. As it turns out, Tangle Teezer has a range of round combs - I didn't know that before, but I'm glad I discovered it!

The comb comes in a simple, transparent package, similar to the ones you'd find for more common combs. The design is a bit more professional-looking, though.

The comb has a sleek black-and-white design, with a lovely rose-colored alternative available too. I love the simple yet stylish design - it's perfect for everyday use.

The build quality is top-notch: the plastic is sturdy, and the slightly textured grip feels secure in my hand.

I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle branding on the handle - it adds a touch of style.

The comb section is really interesting: it's got 6 rows of 3 closely spaced teeth that curve and aren't too sharp.

The comb itself is hollow, which provides extra airflow and doesn't weigh down the tool. Overall, it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design.

A bit about my hair:

I dry it with a blow dryer and style it at the same time, usually straightening rather than curling (to be honest, I haven't had to curl with this comb at all). I'm looking for a quick and easy styling experience before my arm gets tired.

So, after the towel, I apply a leave-in conditioner and start styling. I usually dry the roots first, then lower my head and use straightening motions to dry the ends.

The first thing I noticed is that when my hair is wet and I flip over, it's hard to comb the length with this tool - I have to use a regular comb and then section my hair before styling with the blow dryer.

However, the sections do glide smoothly through the teeth, and my hair doesn't get tangled or stuck. That only happened once, when my hair was really puffy and got caught in the comb.

If I try hard enough, I can use this model to comb my hair, but it does tug a bit. I'm sensitive to that, and after using my beloved Tangle Teezer Thick & Curly, I'm not comfortable with any other combs, even tanglers.

It takes me around 7-9 minutes to style my hair, which is roughly the same time as with my favorite comb - maybe a minute or two longer. I'm probably just not styling correctly, because my hair looks great in the end, but my wrist gets sore. Otherwise, my arm doesn't get tired, as the comb is relatively lightweight.

I've got to say, my hair looked pretty good without any styling, but after using this comb, the difference is like night and day.

One thing I've noticed is that styling combs tend to get dirty quickly, and this one is no exception. The silicone coating attracts dust and dirt, making it look grimy even when it's stored in a protective case.

Cleaning it is a bit of a pain, as I've found that running a toothbrush between the teeth of regular combs doesn't work as well with this one. I've had to soak it in soap and water for a bit before rinsing it off, but even then, some dirt remains.

Despite the cleaning issues, the comb has held up well over time. The teeth haven't become too worn or bent, which is a testament to its build quality. However, I do think this design may be more prone to damage than others, given its similarity to other Tangle Teezer models.

In comparison to my other combs, I have to say that this one is still a great tool for styling, especially for adding volume and texture. However, I've recently tried the Janeke comb, and it's been a game-changer for me. It's lighter, easier to clean, and seems to work better for smoothing out my hair. Plus, it's a fraction of the cost – around 300-400 rubles compared to this one's 1000 rubles.

After trying the Janeke comb, I found myself using this Tangle Teezer less and less. In fact, it ended up collecting dust for about six months before I decided to sell it.

Why did I say all that? Well, the best results I got with this comb were a few years ago, when I had a longer, curly hairstyle. I could use it to add volume and texture in just a couple of minutes, and the style would last for days.

So, here's the bottom line:
