I love following the latest news on Netflix and Amazon Prime, but I also try to find new titles on HBO Max. I was drawn to the irony and humor of "Rybinsk Undercover", a thriller that I hadn't seen in a long time.

The character of the journalist from the Rybinsk "Volsky Vestnik" newspaper is a 37-year-old married man with a drinking problem. This leads to seizures similar to epilepsy. As a result, he develops the ability to see small fragments of crimes that will occur in his hometown in the near future, or rather, in the next few hours. Now, a key question arises: should he drink less for the gift of clairvoyance to begin to manifest?
Additionally, due to his addiction to drinking, his wife leaves him, and in the gaze of his daughter, you can see that he is no longer a role model. I think the creators of the program intended to show, in a subtle way, that drinking does not lead to anything good.

I didn't expect to see Anton Vasilev in this role, but I love watching him. Vasilev always interprets his roles flawlessly, in my opinion, he is one of the most talented actors of the present. Now he plays a presenter of a local television channel, and considering his car and apartment, I think he is the owner of this medium of communication. But it can't be that a presenter of a local channel has so much money. He also doesn't lack influential connections, such as a candidate for deputy among his friends.
It seems to me that the life of his protagonist becomes crazy in just one day and now he has to find solutions to problems that seemed insurmountable.
I don't know how the writers developed their plot, but, at least for me, everything remains very predictable.

In my opinion, the ironic mystery is not an easy genre, since the serious must seem cheerful. But the humor here is specific, although for this genre there could have been some more funny jokes, more often it is flat.
I have noticed several murders from the beginning. If some murders are clear and there is no intrigue, then there is a hidden murder and it is not clear who and why committed it. Are these crimes related to each other or not?
The characters themselves don't worry much, they don't cry for their loved ones who are dead. It sounds a bit strange, since people used to suffer and then laugh again as if nothing had happened.
For example, there is a car on fire, which was probably bought with the last money, but what's the point, I'll go on foot. In general, it's ridiculous. Boring. What can you do, it's the genre?
The village itself seems to be a provincial town, although, according to a character, it has 170,000 inhabitants.
While I was in Rybinsk, I didn't know that there was a village as small as this on the map of Russia.
From the locations, you can see that it's a forgotten village, without resources.
If you look at the edition of the newspaper, the police, it seems that they got stuck in the 90s.
Seriously, I don't know what the title of the film means. The detective plot is very weak, second-rate. Murders and murders, it seems like there's an investigation, but I'm not interested much.
Maybe the idea is to show how a journalist like Yuri, who is an alcoholic, redeems himself and saves others to save himself, but I didn't believe it.
In general, after watching three episodes, I don't have many desires to continue.

The actors play very well, but some of them I've already seen in similar roles, such as Míninegauov and Tribuntsiev.
While watching, I remembered another recent series, "Rai-Tsentr", which has a similar black humor, but for me it's more interesting.
On the other hand, "Heard in Rybinsk" has a slow pace and, sometimes, I fall asleep from boredom.
There are no twists in the plot that make me feel emotions.
It's like they're trying to make jokes, but sometimes the dialogue doesn't make sense.
The only thing that keeps me is the acting of the actors, especially Vasíliev, who is great.
If it weren't for him, I might have stopped watching.
I don't have a clear opinion, it seems that it's an interesting film, but for me, it lacks a good sense of humor.
