Editor's Summary

I'm a busy working person who squeezes in product photography for reviews on weekends or evenings after work. I recently bought a portable photo studio to make my life easier, and I gotta say, it's been a total game changer. The built-in lighting is adjustable, and the one-toned background is a huge plus. However, I do wish it had more light for smaller items, but overall, it's worth every penny. I've been using it for a week now, and the build quality has surprised me - the buttons feel solid, and the battery lasts longer than I expected. It's definitely a great value for money, especially considering the shipping was fast and the customer support was top-notch. One thing that's really impressed me is how easy it is to set up and use - even a beginner like me can get great results. The only downside is that the return policy is a bit unclear, so be sure to check that out before making a purchase. Hello everyone! I'm a busy working person who squeezes in product photography for reviews on weekends or evenings after work. It's easy to find good light on weekends, but it's a different story in the evenings during the week. Either I'm exhausted, or I've got household chores, or the sun has already set and evening's here. And to make matters worse, days are getting shorter already, and before we know it, it's autumn, and soon winter...

I bought a portable photo studio as a gift to try out, and this is my first time using it. Let's start by looking at the packaging with my trusty sidekick.

Order and packaging.I ordered the portable photo studio on Wildberries - I browsed a few options on Wildberries and Ozon, and it was cheaper on Wildberries, plus I had some gift card credits there. The price came out to be around 2400 rubles. Here's the link to the product.

Be careful - almost all portable photo studios are non-returnable after opening, so I took a power adapter with me to test it at the point of pickup - the lamp should light up.

When I picked up the order, the product came in a box with the model name printed on the back and a sticker. There were no carrying handles on the box, just a huge bag.

Box contents.Let's open the box and see what's inside.

In the box: the portable photo studio, the back panel, 6 background sheets, a diffuser, adhesive strips, a carrying bag, and an instruction manual. The carrying bag is perfect for transporting or storing the studio.

Background sheets: there are 6 sheets in total - white, black, red, green, beige, and blue. They're thick and similar to thin plastic.

Instruction manual: it's easy to understand, but even without it, everything is simple and straightforward.

I started assembling the photo box and taking a look at how it works.I unpacked the photo box and inserted the back panel. In this photo, I've placed it upside down - the recess should be at the top under the power cord, which I only just noticed. But the idea makes sense.

The top has a LED light, and the cord from it has a switch. The buttons are for turning it on and off, changing the lighting mode, and plus and minus (adjusting brightness).

The cord inserts into the power adapter (which isn't included), the computer, or a power bank. It's long enough, about 2 meters.

The package includes a light diffuser - a white square of polyester with a hole in the middle, which attaches to the sides under the light with adhesive.

The top of the photo box has a hole for taking photos.

This is what it looks like through the top hole with the diffuser.

Without the diffuser, the photos looked brighter to me. The diffuser is great for shiny surfaces that might reflect and cause glare from the light. Below are a few photos taken with different lighting. The size of the photo box is 40x40x40 cm. You can get an idea of the size from the photos with my trusty helper, which weighs about 3.3 kg.

And here are the key features:Dimensions: 40x40x40 cm

Number of LEDs: 69 units

Brightness: 24-26 lumens

Color temperature: 5500 K

Power: up to 10 W

Voltage: 5 V

Cable length: 2 meters

Manufacturer: China

I counted the 'burnt-out' LED lights – there are two circles with 90 of them each. I wonder why it says 69 in the manual. Maybe the diodes are counted differently? Or do the Chinese people have a different system of counting? It's a mystery. If anyone knows, please explain.

Fon is the only color I've used so far, and I think I can add any other color by trimming it to fit the box size.

I'd give this gadget 4 stars for photography – I want more light, and lots of it! In low light, it's actually pretty bright, with no shadows or glare – it's great for small objects, but I'd need to adjust it a bit. It can't compete with natural sunlight, but I'll keep experimenting, and I have a lamp at home that I can use as a makeshift light source – I'll position it to the side. But it's still better than using room lighting for photos!

I also want to note that, despite the box being 40 cm, I find it a bit cramped for moving around decorations – everything gets stuck against the sides. I think I'll drill a few holes at the bottom to fit in some flower stems. Here are a few reviews with photos in low light in the photo box:

We, along with my trusty sidekick, give this a solid 4 stars and recommend – Photobox Puluz 40x40x40 for object photography with built-in lighting.

Thanks for reading.
