I've got a warning for you: be careful with the delivery process on Yandex.Ede, or you might end up without your order and a refund.
I've been a loyal customer of Yandex services for a long time, and usually, when there's an issue with their other apps, like Yandex.Taxi or Yandex.Lavka, their customer support is top-notch.
But my recent experience with Yandex.Ede was a disaster.
I placed an order worth over 2000 rubles, specifying the address and adding the note to leave it at the door as usual.
The order was collected, handed over to the courier, and on my card, I could see the courier was already near my house, so I was expecting to pick it up soon!
The order wasn't at my door. I waited, thinking it sometimes happens, and the courier might have changed the status to 'delivered' beforehand.
But the order didn't show up after 10 or 20 minutes. I wrote to customer support:
Customer support suggested I wait a bit longer.
After several checks, I realized my order wasn't going to show up today. I kept writing to customer support, and their response was:
I was asked to check if the order had been left at my door. Of course, it hadn't.
I received a response from support that left me feeling surprised and not in a good way. First of all, it's not a restaurant, it's a store, and the courier delivered the order... but to whom?! Not to me, that's for sure.
It's clear I'm out of luck, and that's a first for me.
When I had issues with other Yandex services, customer support always sorted it out, and I was satisfied with the outcome.
Here, I'm just looking for a simple apology from customer support.
I decided to call the hotline again, explaining the situation once more. After a couple of minutes of waiting, the operator offered to check if the order was at my door. I told them it wasn't, and that I was probably out of luck. The operator suggested I wait another 10 minutes. I figured I'd just have to wait till morning.
In the meantime, I tried sending an email, re-explaining the situation. Guess what I got in response?
This felt like a joke. And, as I'd predicted, the order didn't show up at my door after 12 hours. Do I need to check again?
I wrote to the support team again, and this time a senior specialist got back to me.
It seemed like the logic was this:
Yandex isn't considering the possibility that the courier might have made a mistake and delivered the order to the wrong address. The products were paid for, and delivered, but where and whether they were received is irrelevant.
I always make sure to specify the delivery address clearly, and if there's any confusion, the couriers call to confirm. In this case, there was no follow-up call. Just a couple of hours before my food order was due, I'd ordered delivery from a restaurant, and the previous courier had managed to arrive at my address and leave the package at the door.
No compensation, no food for a few days, no consolation voucher.
By the way, I've recently seen a new feature in Yandex.Lavka where the courier takes a photo of the door with the package, so you can check that the order was left at your door. This feature would have been helpful in Yandex.Ede too.
So, I ended up giving Yandex over two thousand rubles, didn't get my food, and wasted my nerves. And someone's eating my order, maybe even the courier?
By refusing to investigate the situation, sending me automated responses, and denying compensation, Yandex ends up losing more in the end. From now on, I'll be ordering from other delivery services, which are plentiful and, coincidentally, cheaper.
Be careful when ordering food delivery! Either pick it up yourself or receive it in person.
Protect your money and your nerves.
I've gotta say, the customer support from this company has been top-notch. I had a few questions about the product, and their team got back to me within a few hours. That kind of responsiveness is a huge plus in my book.
The return policy is also super flexible - if you're not satisfied with the product, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund. No hassle, no fuss.
I've been using this product for a while now, and I've been really impressed with the ease of use. It's so intuitive, even my non-tech-savvy friends have been able to pick it up quickly.
