Hello everyone!
I've been phone-less for what feels like an eternity, so I'm excited to share my thoughts on the Xiaomi Poco M5 after using it for three months now.

Design
Dimensions
Height: 163.99 mm
Width: 76.09 mm
Thickness: 8.9 mm
Weight: 201 g
The phone is quite large, compared to my old Honor 9, it's probably about an inch taller. It's also pretty heavy at first, but after a month, it just felt natural in my hand.
Poco M5. Телефон без чехлаPoco M5First of all, the phone's body is made of plastic, but it's designed to look like leather. Mine's black, and it comes in green and yellow too. It looks really stylish. Plus, there's a little plate that says 'your fingerprints will go here'.
Poco M5. Задняя крышка выполнена под кожуBut when you put it in the silicone case that comes with it, you can barely see the design. And if you buy a closed case with a picture, you won't even see the phone's body.
Poco M5. Задняя крышка в чехлеThe back has three cameras (I'll talk more about those later) and a flashlight.
The headphone jack is at the top, which isn't my favorite spot - I think it's better at the bottom.
Poco M5. Audio jackPoco M5. Audio jack topVolume and power buttons are standard on the right-hand side. The power button has a fingerprint sensor, which is more convenient than having it on the back, but I actually preferred it when it was under the screen. It's a bit tricky to find, and I often struggled to tap it on the first try.

Poco M5. Possible camera modesThe phone has three cameras inside its body. One of them is a 50MP camera. I have to admit, I was swayed by the idea of a standard camera, but sometimes you just can't get the shot on time. The 50MP mode is actually a special camera mode that needs to be enabled separately, and it's not always easy to catch the moment. The photos taken in this mode are quite large, around 7-8 MB each. Here are a few examples of photos taken in this mode.

Poco M5. Close-up shots aren't its strong suit...I'm glad to see a pro mode for photography, where you can manually adjust settings like shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, and more.

Video recording

1280 × 720 | 30 frames per second
The front camera is 5MP, and honestly, I don't think I'll ever need more for selfies. They're just not my thing.
Video
Supported video formats: MP4, M4V, MKV, AVI, WMV, WEBM, 3GP, 3G2, ASF
The video quality is surprisingly good. This was one of my main concerns with my previous phone, and I'm happy to say that the Poco M5 delivers.

Storage
Memory and RAM
4 GB + 64 GB, 4 GB + 128 GB
Expandable storage up to 1 TB
I've got 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage in my model. There were also options with 4GB and 64GB, and 6GB and 128GB - I feel like I've got the sweet spot. Honestly, if you're a casual user and don't play games on your phone that require lightning-fast performance, you won't notice a huge difference in RAM capacity. And as for internal storage, you'll probably never fill it up, especially if you're taking photos with the 50MP camera.
The phone also has a microSD card slot, so you've got plenty of room for all your files.

Audio
Audio
Speaker
3.5mm headphone jack
FM radio
The speaker is decent, with good quality sound.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the phone comes with FM radio - it's a feature that's becoming increasingly rare in modern smartphones.

Charging
Battery and charging
Battery capacity: 5000mAh (typical)
Fast charging: 18W
22.5W charger included
The phone charges via USB-C - I've got used to calling it the 'Chinese charger'.
Poco M5. "Chinese charger"Poco M5. ChargerUnfortunately, the phone takes a while to charge, especially that last 10%.
Poco M5. Without a case, the charging cable stays putWhat's weird is that sometimes I get a notification saying something like 'Slow charging' and then my phone takes a whole day to charge. I still haven't figured out what triggers this warning.
Poco M5. Slow chargingThe standard silicone case is a total pain for the charging cable. Just move the phone slightly and it falls out.
Poco M5. With a case, the charging cable constantly falls outFirst boot
During the initial boot, my phone asked me to connect via Wi-Fi to transfer all my data from my old phone. I didn't double-check at the time, but it would've been nice to get all my documents, books, and audio files transferred too.
All my apps are hidden in a menu that's organized alphabetically.

I've got to share my personal observations about the pros and cons of this model. Some people might not care about these factors, but they definitely stood out to me.
xa0
- the display is top-notch,
- it lasts all day on a single charge (I've gone a whole day without needing to recharge),
- the internal storage is massive,
- it takes great video,
- it's got NFC for contactless payments,
- it's super affordable,
- the voice-to-text feature is really convenient and even recognizes commas and other punctuation marks
xa0
- the screen keeps turning on during calls, and I find myself accidentally switching to loudspeaker or holding the call instead of letting it ring,
- the charging cable keeps popping out of the silicone case that came with it,
Poco M5. Charging cable keeps popping out of the case- the touch sensor is way too sensitive, sometimes it activates before I've even touched it (though I've gotten used to it over time),
- the default keyboard and predictive text feature aren't super intuitive,
- the fingerprint sensor on the side button doesn't always work, I need to press it really firmly for it to register
Poco M5. Сканер отпечатка пальца на кнопке включенияPoco M5. Кнопки регулировки громкости закрываются чехлом- when I'm holding the phone on a table or couch, I often get confused about which side is up and which is down.
- it's a bit long, and I'm worried it might fall out of my back pocket - I have a pretty bad habit of putting it there.

Obviously, the pros outweigh the cons. The price at the time of purchase from the official Mi store was 14,000 rubles. You can also buy it from many electronics stores. I'd definitely recommend it - for its price range, it's an amazing phone.
