Hello everyone!
I stumbled upon Rina Zenyuk's work a few years back, and I was immediately hooked when I saw one of her illustrations featuring a kitty. I was smitten right away!
Rina created this whole village of Kotofeevka with its own cast of characters and their stories. Each drawing introduces you to fascinating characters - most of them are blue cats, but there are kitties of other breeds, other animals, and even magical creatures.
The most popular heroes of this series are White Whiskers, a little cat named Murka with her babies and her husband Stepan, and blue cat Vaska, the main handsome guy in the village.
Trap for Cat Moroz. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyI end up buying everything I find in stores with these characters. The author has calendars, dishes, magnets, postcards, paintings, notebooks, and a bunch of other fun stuff with blue whiskered cats.
Trap for Cat Moroz. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyRina Zenyuk mentioned on her contact page that the series books are coming out, and she said, "We have in Kotofeevka." I signed up for pre-order with the publisher, but I missed it. I'm a bit careless, to be honest. BUT, I quickly corrected myself, found the little book in stores, and immediately ordered it.

Trap for Cat Moroz. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyThe packaging included stickers with the book's theme - our beloved cats, a mom cat, Cat Moroz, and gifts. The stickers are bright, medium-sticky. If the kids stick them to an unwanted place, it's easy to remove them without damaging the surface.
Trap for Cat Moroz. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyMORE ABOUT THE BOOK:
This book is amazing. It's colorful and lightweight. The cover is very hard with a matte surface. The letters and cats are glossy on the other side. It's a pleasure to touch.
A Trap for Father Frost. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyI love how the book includes a map of the village of Kotofeevka with the houses labeled. Now we can visualize where our favorite characters live.
A Trap for Father Frost. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyThe pages are thick and sturdy. The text is large and easy to read. Even a little kid could read it on their own if they can already read. The illustrations take up most of the page, leaving just a quarter for the text.
A Trap for Father Frost. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyEvery page is filled with bright, cheerful illustrations that kids will love looking at while you read the story to them.
A Trap for Father Frost. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyThe book is pretty thin, just 32 pages. But each page is so delightful that you'll want to spend 10 minutes admiring the illustrations.
A Trap for Father Frost. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyThe story is a fun, wintery tale that adults will enjoy too.
A Trap for Father Frost. Rina Zenyuk, Pavel LinitzkyTHE VERDICT: I really liked this book. It's a great gift for the New Year! The kittens are adorable, and the grown-ups are hilarious.
