When it comes down to just a splash of milk, my kid's not gaining weight, so the doc prescribes formula - time to take action, stat!

I'm writing today about a supplement that's not for weight loss or energy, but for increasing milk production.

Unfortunately, I had to turn to external help to boost my milk supply - my daughter was only two weeks old and had lost weight, weighing less than she did at birth, and our pediatrician prescribed formula because she wasn't getting enough breast milk.

I have no idea why my milk supply was so low - I started breastfeeding right away, and I feed her on demand, day and night.

Maybe it just takes time for milk production to kick in, but something had to be done, and fast.

My daughter was losing weight, and we'd introduced formula, which was terrifying - I didn't want to lose my ability to breastfeed.

I figured out that I was only producing about 15ml of milk per session, and my daughter was only taking about 30ml per feeding, so I decided to try everything I could to increase my milk supply.

It was a slow process, and women online were talking about having a steady flow, but I was just getting by in tiny increments.

Of course, there was no noticeable weight gain for my daughter.

I see the benefits of breastfeeding, and I really don't want to give it up.

+ It's convenient to have food for my baby with me at all times, without having to carry bottles, thermoses, and formula.

+ Breast milk is always better for my baby, if I can manage it.

+ I enjoy breastfeeding, and it's been a surprise - it was painful at first, but after a week or so, it became enjoyable.

This is a special bond between us, and it's calming for my baby, too - it's a sense of closeness and connection that's hard to describe.

It's a joy for both of us.

And there's more to it than that.

My goal was to get my daughter to gain weight, no matter what - if that meant formula, fine, but I wanted to increase my milk supply.

I didn't want to be stuck on formula and risk losing my ability to breastfeed.

I ended up buying formula, which was hard to find (we were prescribed Friso VOM, but we don't have any issues with our digestive system), and a special bottle, and for myself, some tea to help with lactation and these supplements.

I started taking the supplements on August 2nd. I've already bought my third pack.

The cost of a pack is around 300 rubles.

Here's my setup for increasing milk production.

This electric breast pump is an absolute must-have, along with the lactation tea and lactogon supplements.

The supplements are taken four times a day.

There are 20 tablets in a pack, good for five days.

The recommended course is one month.

They promise results in as little as two days.

What came in the package.

And the insert.

The tablets are white, with specks, taste like ginger and carrots, overall sweet, but you can feel the spiciness (from the ginger).

Tablet composition:

carrot juice; vitamin C (ascorbic acid- 1 mg); ginger; nettle; milk thistle; dill; thyme; potassium iodide (iodine- 38 mcg); excipients - sugar, cornstarch, oats, calcium stearate, polyvinylpyrrolidone.

I read that ginger can cause an allergy - so be careful!

You don't need to drink water with the tablets, I just suck on them or chew.

The result is noticeable, I'd say!

It's been about 10 days since I started the Lactogon course.

Those pathetic drops of milk turned into a decent amount

I can now express around 60-70 ml, and it's over two sessions, not a whole day, whereas before the tablets I could barely get 30 ml (expression) in a day!

Milk production has definitely increased, and I even see little streams)

My milk supply finally looks like real storage, not those pathetic 'leftovers of luxury':

I've noticed that milk supply increases around 4-5 days after taking the pills, so I bought another pack, and then a third.

Now I'm still taking Lactogon, milk supply is up, my daughter gained 400 grams, and she's not giving up breastfeeding at all.

I'm really happy with this bottle for supplementing, I highly recommend it - my little one has to work hard to get the formula out of it)

The nipple is designed to mimic a breast, my daughter takes 30 ml of formula for at least 10 minutes. So, with this bottle, I think we'll be okay with mixed feeding, and maybe even return to exclusive breastfeeding.

So, my conclusions:

1. I'm not sure if Lactogon was the only thing that helped, or if it was a combination of everything (herbal teas, expressing) - but I definitely noticed an increase in milk supply after taking Lactogon for a few days. I was only drinking one specific tea for a couple of days, and expressing before Lactogon wasn't really helping.

I might have established lactation, but it should have happened sooner. The baby shouldn't be losing weight.

2. The tablets are natural, no harsh chemicals, and contain beneficial substances)

3. No negative reactions were detected)

4. It's affordable, and the course lasts a month.

Overall, it's not going to get any worse)

I'm happy with the effect, the tablets are good)
