Wey 07 Great Wall Motor 2025

The Wey 07 Great Wall Motor 2025 is a solid choice if you're looking for a reliable and feature-rich car that won't break the bank. I'm talking great value for money here. Its impressive build quality and long list of features make it a hard-to-beat deal in this price range. Plus, the battery life is surprisingly long, and the build feels rock-solid. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better car in this class.

My Take on the WEY 07: A Month of Mixed Feelings

summarizeEditor's Summary

I spent a month with the WEY 07, and it's been a real mixed bag. On paper, this Chinese electric car looks like a winner – plenty of room inside, a modern design, and a hybrid powertrain. But how does it hold up in the real world? Let's take a closer look.

I'll admit it – buying a new car isn't exactly my thing. My old XC90 was starting to show its age, and I needed something spacious, modern, and preferably electric. I wasn't keen on German cars right now, especially with the current warranty situation being a concern. That's when I stumbled upon the WEY 07, and what really caught my eye was the fact that it has an official dealership and comes with a hybrid powertrain.
First impressions of the car are mostly positive. It looks understated but expensive. The dimensions are quite large – over 17 feet long and almost 6.5 feet wide – which becomes apparent when you're driving through narrow streets. I've had to be extra careful not to scratch the sides, especially without parking cameras. The ground clearance isn't too high, but it's sufficient for city driving, and I've avoided rough roads whenever possible.
Inside, the cabin is tidy and features nice materials, comfortable seats, and plenty of legroom. The second row is particularly impressive, with individual adjustments, ventilation, and heating. It's a great spot to relax during long drives. Unfortunately, the third row is more suited for kids – adults might find it a bit cramped. And with the third row up, the trunk space is reduced to almost nothing, so you'll need to fold it down if you need to carry anything larger than a few bags.
The hybrid powertrain is a 1.5 turbocharged engine paired with two electric motors. Acceleration is quick, reaching 0-60mph in under 5 seconds, but it's not aggressive. The car doesn't encourage you to drive recklessly, which I appreciate. Around town, I've been able to run almost exclusively on electric power, charging from a regular outlet for about 180-200 kilometers. The gasoline engine kicks in only when needed, and I've averaged around 6 liters per 100 kilometers in the summer and slightly over 8 in the winter. Considering the overall fuel efficiency, I think it's a great value for money, especially if you're able to charge regularly.
The car comes equipped with everything you'd need, including cruise control, cameras, a projection display, and lane-keeping assist. The latter can be a bit too aggressive at times, so I've turned it off. The multimedia system works, but I've experienced some lag. The sound quality is great, and the cabin is surprisingly quiet, even on the highway.
