summarizeEditor's Summary

As a parent, I've been on the hunt for a reliable wind and cold balm that works for both my daughter and me. Weleda's Calendula Wind and Cold Balm has been a total game changer - it's natural, easy to apply, and provides great protection against the elements. I'm super impressed by the build quality and the fact that it's made in Germany. My only gripe is that it's not the most affordable option, but for me, it's worth every penny.

A Lifesaver for Dry, Chapped Skin: Weleda's Calendula Wind and Cold Balm
Hello everyone!
I'll admit it: fall can be brutal on my daughter's skin. Her nose would turn bright red when she was outside in the cold, and I knew exactly how she felt – I'd experienced it myself back in the day. That's when I started searching for a reliable wind and cold balm for kids and adults, and Weleda's Calendula Wind and Cold Balm caught my eye.
The balm comes in a bright, sunny box with a beautiful image of a calendula flower on it. The back of the box has a sticker with the product description in Russian, but the sides have all the info you need in English. And made in Germany is always a plus in my book. The volume is 30 ml, and the price is 615 rubles. I picked it up at L'Étoile.
Inside the box, there's a metal tube with the balm and two booklets. The tube is a great design – it's easy to stand upright and doesn't take up much space in your bag.
The booklets have a lot of info about the brand and its other products. When I opened the tube, I was hit with the sweet scent of calendula – it's really lovely.
First Impressions
First things first, I applied the balm to my hand to see how my skin would react. I was pleasantly surprised by how little of it I needed – just a tiny drop would cover a large area. It absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling hydrated. After it's absorbed, you can feel a slight film on your skin, but it's not uncomfortable at all.
Testing on My Daughter
Of course, I wasn't buying this for myself – I was getting it for my daughter. After testing it on my hand, I applied a small amount to her elbow to see if she'd have any reaction. I waited a bit, and since there was no reaction, I put the tube in our entryway.
My experience with the balm.
I love that this balm doesn't contain water, so you can apply it right before going outside. I apply it to my daughter's face in a thin layer, and while I'm putting her coat and boots on, it absorbs perfectly. I also apply it to my own hands – I don't wear gloves when we're out, and it helps protect my skin from the wind and cold. The amount we use is minimal – just a few tiny drops cover her face and my hands.
The scent lasts for at least 15 minutes, and you get used to it. My daughter doesn't mind it at all – she's actually really fond of it.
Results
The balm does an amazing job of keeping our skin hydrated and protected from the wind and cold. Even on a 40-minute walk in -16°C weather, my daughter's nose wasn't as red as it would have been without the balm. Her cheeks were almost completely fine, and she didn't need to apply any cream to soothe them after our walk. My hands are also in great shape – no dryness or windburn.
I'm really happy with the results, and while the price might be a bit steep, it's worth every penny. My only complaint is the scent – it's not for everyone, that's for sure.
Thanks for reading!
