Our Epic Train Ride to Moscow: A Family-Friendly Adventure

summarizeEditor's Summary

We took the Vologda-Moscow train with our kids and it was a total game changer. The train has special cars with a kids' zone that kept our 6-year-old daughter entertained for almost 7 hours. The staff was super friendly and professional, and boarding was a breeze. The seating area had plenty of space, and the second floor was worth the climb for the great views. I was worried about the long trip, but the schedule worked out great, and we even had time to grab some lunch at the train's restaurant.

We usually drive to Moscow, but this time we decided to take the train. It's not a long trip, and the schedule worked out great, but I was worried about keeping my 6-year-old daughter entertained for almost 7 hours.
I did some research on the Vologda-Moscow train and discovered that it has special cars with a kids' zone. This was a total game changer for us.
The train left early in the morning, around 8 am. Boarding was a breeze, and the staff was super friendly and professional.
Our kids' car was in the middle of the train, and the seats were on the second floor. It was a bit of a climb, but it was worth it.
The seating area had two rows of seats, with two seats per row, and the second half of the space was dedicated to the kids' zone. It was basically a playroom on wheels!
The kids' zone was equipped with a TV showing some great cartoons, a little table for drawing, a soft couch, and some toys. It was a lifesaver for us parents.
The other kids in the car were all around the same age, and they quickly became friends and kept themselves entertained for the entire trip. We parents could even take a nap or read a book without worrying about them.
Midway through the trip, the conductor came by with some great surprises for the little ones - a set of crayons and coloring books. It was such a nice touch.
We were really happy with the train's amenities. The seats were super comfortable, and we could adjust them to our liking. They even had little tables for snacks, and hooks for hanging our jackets. The overhead shelves were spacious enough for our luggage, and other passengers had no problem storing their bags there too.
There were several bathrooms on the train, and they were all clean and functioning properly.
We even had a water cooler, trash cans, and vending machines with snacks and drinks.
If you want a full meal, you can head to the restaurant car, which was just one car away from us. We stopped by for lunch, and the menu wasn't too extensive, but the prices were reasonable. The service was quick, and the food was decent.
We were all happy with the trip, and the train arrived right on schedule.
