A Solid Choice: I'd Definitely Stay at Vinholidays Fiesta Phu Quoc 3 Again

summarizeEditor's Summary

We visited Vinholidays Fiesta 3-star on Phu Quoc island in December 2024, and I've got to say, it was a total surprise. We were looking for a great beach vacation, but the south island was off-season, and we didn't want to take any chances. After researching different areas and hotels, we stumbled upon Vinholidays Fiesta, and it really caught our eye. The reviews were mixed, but the photos and location sealed the deal for us. We ended up staying for three days, and I'd definitely stay again. The hotel's got a great vibe, and the staff is super friendly. The location is perfect - it's close to the beach, and the views are stunning. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a great balcony to enjoy the sunset. The hotel's got a great restaurant with delicious food and a nice bar area. The pool is a great spot to relax and enjoy the sunshine. The hotel's surrounded by lush greenery, making it feel like a peaceful oasis.

We visited Vinholidays Fiesta 3* on Phu Quoc island in December 2024. We were flying in blind with no idea what to expect, but we were determined to make the most of our trip. Initially, we were planning to stay in the south, but after doing some research, we realized it's off-season down there - the waves are rough, the sea is murky, and the conditions aren't exactly ideal for a beach vacation. We had to rethink our plans.
We started looking into different areas and hotels across the island, but the choice was surprisingly tough. There were a lot of reviews, but they often contradicted each other. At one point, we stumbled upon a chat about Phu Quoc where people were saying they didn't want to leave Vinholidays Fiesta - it had really won them over. We were intrigued, so we checked out the reviews and photos, and the hotel definitely caught our eye.
Initially, we were thinking of a combination package: 5-star hotel for 6 days, Vinholidays Fiesta for 3 days, and a couple of days on the south island to see how the weather is. But after reading a lot of negative reviews about our chosen 5-star hotel (mostly about the bad sea conditions), we decided to split our trip between Vinholidays and the south island.
One of the standout features of the hotel is its location. It's situated in the Grand World area, which is like a mini-Venice. There's a VinWonders theme park and a Safari Park nearby, which we were planning to visit anyway.
When we were booking, one thing that did raise some concerns was the hotel's 3-star rating. At the time, we were a bit spoiled and weren't sure how we'd take to a more basic setup (now we're more laid-back and happy to take on simpler hotels for a few days, as long as we're not going to be spending too much time in the room). We even considered changing our booking to the Wyndham Garden Grand World, especially since we'd had a positive experience with the Wyndham brand in Thailand. But after reading the reviews, we decided to stick with Vinholidays, and we didn't regret it.
We got to the hotel on the free city bus from Vingroup (now the buses are paid, but they're still a great alternative to taxis), which is available to all residents and visitors on the island. The journey took a bit over an hour, and the bus dropped us off right in front of the hotel.
The hotel grounds are open and easily accessible. The reception area is spacious and modern, with a minimalist style. We were checked in quickly, almost as soon as we arrived, despite arriving an hour before the official check-in time.
When we checked in, we were photographed by the webcam, and then we went to breakfast using Face ID. It was our first time experiencing this, but in Vietnam, especially in Vingroup projects, this system is pretty common in hotels and amusement parks. After Fukuoka, we were used to it.
Our rooms were relatively new, modern, and without frills, but cozy. Every day, they brought us water (half a liter per person), refilled our tea and coffee.
One of the best things about this place is its proximity to the public beach, which is just a seven-minute walk from the hotel. You'll find free sunbeds there, which is a major plus.
We were a bit worried about the hotel's 3-star rating, but it turned out to be a great value for money. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel's location is also a major plus - it's close to the VinWonders theme park and the Safari Park, which are both must-visits.
We did notice a few things that might be worth mentioning:
There aren't many power outlets in the hotel, so you might want to bring a power adapter. We also found that the outlets that are there aren't always the most convenient. There's no great place to hang your clothes to dry, so you might want to bring a clothesline. We ended up using the balcony to dry our clothes, but it's not the most ideal solution. They only provide towels for the pool, not for the beach. It's a good idea to bring your own beach towels, especially if you plan on spending a lot of time at the beach. There are a lot of Chinese tourists here, but they tend to disperse for excursions later on. We found that the hotel's breakfast buffet was a great way to meet other travelers and locals. The pool is really nice, but it's quite cold. We swam a few times, but it was a bit of a shock. On the other hand, the hotel's proximity to the public beach made up for it - we ended up spending most of our time there. We were considering the Vinholidays Fiesta for this trip, but when we booked, the price difference between it and a five-star hotel in the same area was only around 3,000 baht. The Vinholidays Fiesta had actually increased in price, so we opted for the five-star hotel instead. However, I can confidently say that the Vinholidays Fiesta is a great option, especially considering its location, service level, and overall value for money. It's perfect for a short stay or an active holiday.
