A Solid Choice, But the Gym Falls Short

Soviet Fitness on Mikhailovsky, Moscow

I've been going to Soviet Fitness on Mikhailovsky for a while now, and it's honestly a great value for money. The equipment's decent, and the staff is super friendly - they'll help you out with anything you need. I've been pretty impressed with the whole setup, from the cleanliness to the variety of classes they offer. It's a solid choice if you're looking for a gym in Moscow.

A Solid Choice, But the Gym Falls Short

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm a fitness enthusiast who's tried my fair share of gyms. I got a membership card for the USSR Fitness Club chain, which lets me visit any of their clubs. I've been going to the USSR Volgogradsky Prospekt Club for a while now, and I've got some mixed feelings about it. The atmosphere is super friendly, with welcoming staff and a spacious club. However, the equipment is a bit outdated - I was expecting more modern gear. The locker room is massive and clean, but the gym itself is a bit of a letdown. It's a solid choice for a casual workout, but if you're looking for something more advanced, you might want to look elsewhere.

Working out is my thing - it's how I relieve stress and stay in shape. I've tried a bunch of gyms, but I ended up going with the USSR Fitness Club chain and getting a membership card that lets me visit any of their clubs. I figured I'd share my experience with you, starting with the USSR Volgogradsky Prospekt Club.
The atmosphere in this club is super friendly - the staff at the reception are always welcoming and helpful. The club itself is pretty spacious, which I really appreciate, especially when I'm visiting late in the evening. The locker room is massive and clean, with plenty of space to change. I've never felt cramped, even during peak hours. There's also a solarium, but I prefer to get some sun at the beach or on my own property.
Now, here's the thing that really disappointed me - the gym. It's small and not very functional. The equipment is old, and there's not enough of it. There's a free weights area, some mats, and a steppers machine. There are plenty of mirrors, which is a plus. But honestly, I've seen better gyms - like the one on Kozhuhovsky. I'll write about that one in my next review. To put it simply, the gym was a letdown.
There's a kids' room, but I don't need it yet. They've got separate rooms for solo training, and I don't attend group classes, so I won't be covering that aspect. The club has a really cool feature - a water cooler that you can use to cool off after a workout. I prefer to bring my own water, though.
The sauna and bath area is a total game-changer. It's spotless, with plenty of space to relax. The temperature is just right - not too hot, not too cold. There's a Finnish sauna, a steam room, and a kiddie pool. The main pool is a bit small, but it's deep enough for comfortable swimming. There are benches to sit on and take some great photos. You can even see a panoramic view of the city, but it's not that impressive at night. After a sauna, you can take a refreshing shower with ice-cold water - it's so much better than a hot tub, in my opinion. There are even tables where you can sit and relax between swims and sauna sessions.
The parking lot is secured and always has space available. That's a huge plus. In fact, it's one of the things that makes this club stand out from the rest. I really like this club and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great workout and a relaxing atmosphere.
I'd say the USSR Volgogradsky Prospekt Club is a solid choice for anyone in the area. The atmosphere is friendly, the facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the sauna and bath area is top-notch. Just be aware that the gym itself is a bit of a letdown, but it's not a deal-breaker. With a little patience and creativity, you can still get a great workout in.
The club offers a variety of amenities, including a kids' room, separate rooms for solo training, and a water cooler. These little touches can make a big difference in your overall experience.
As for the value for money, I think it's a fair price considering all the amenities and services they offer. Of course, it's always worth doing your research and comparing prices before signing up for a membership.
