My Experience with the Zubr Lawn Mower: A Solid Helper, But Not Always a Breeze

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently got my hands on the Zubr Lawn Mower, and I'm excited to share my experience with it. This year, I needed a reliable tool to prune and shape my trees and shrubs, and the Zubr Lawn Mower has been a total game-changer for my garden. It's not perfect, though - it's got some quirks that I'll get into below. But overall, I'm really happy with how it's performed.

Hello everyone!
I finally got my hands on the Zubr Lawn Mower, and I'm excited to share my experience with it.
I've had my eye on this lawn mower for a while, but I wasn't sure if I needed it. Turns out, this year I did - it's been a game-changer for my garden! I've got a bunch of trees and shrubs, and I prune and shape them 1-2 times a season. But burning them off isn't always easy - the weather's against me, or my neighbor's a bit of a grump...So, let's get started!
I ordered the Zubr Lawn Mower from Ozon (link) after scouring the web for similar products. The order arrived the next day, and I checked it out at the post office before taking it to the dacha. The purchase price was around 10,000 rubles, but it's gone up since then. If you're planning to buy one, do it in winter - the price will be much more reasonable.
The packaging is solid, well-sealed, and has a sticker seal on the seam of the box.
The technical specs are listed on the box.
Opening up the package, I found everything neatly arranged and carefully wrapped in plastic bags and bubble wrap. There's a screwdriver included for assembly, and the instruction manual is pretty generic.
However, the assembly instructions for the frame-legs are well-drawn and easy to follow. You start with the legs, then attach them to the main body - and that's it. It took me about 10 minutes to assemble.
The assembled device is quite interesting.
The power button is protected by a rubber cover, and there's a small black tab for opening the lid and cleaning the interior. You'll see it below.
The power cord is relatively short, about 40 cm. I always use an extension cord, as it's a common issue with devices like this. Even my lawn mower-trailer has a short cord.
There's a slot for loading the material, and you can cut branches up to 40 mm in diameter. There's a warning label inside, noting the presence of sharp blades.
One thing I really like about this thing is the scraper that comes with it - it's super convenient.
I start working! Here's what I've been chopping up with this thing:
Branches from raspberry bushes, currants, spiraea, and other shrubsApple tree branches after autumn pruningClippings from hydrangeas after bloomingStems from tough flowers (golden ball, Jerusalem artichoke, sunflowers, geranium)Vegetative growth from peppers, tomatoes, cucumbersStems from georginesStems from roses and hawthorns
The red thing is the bag clip. But I just use a bucket or a tub.
When chopping up soft plants, you need to alternate them with some tough branches - it makes the thing work better and doesn't clog up.
The first bucket is almost all branches (dry leaves come out whole, if you need mulch from branches, I just snip off the leaves), and the second bucket is a mix with tomato and cucumber stems.
I spread the mulch under the plants or add it to the compost. If the mulch layer is dense, almost no weeds pop up!
After finishing up, I unscrew the bolt and open the lid. It's all clogged up. I give it a good rinse with a hose and let it dry.
I'm really happy with how this chipper has performed, I wish I'd bought it a few years ago. As you can see from the photo above, it's super easy to get to the blades when they need replacing. It does make a bit of a racket, but it's not too bad - it's about the same level as my lawn mower.
I'd definitely recommend the Zubr Lawn Mower.
Thanks for reading.
