Hello to all my lovely readers!
I'm super excited to share my latest review on hair care products. As someone who regularly gets highlights done in the air touch technique, I'm always on the lookout for top-notch products to keep my locks looking fabulous, not frizzy. And let me tell you, I've been searching for the perfect products for years!
The one thing that's always eluded me is finding the perfect heat protectant spray after shampooing. This product needs to tick all the right boxes:
Provide thermal protection;
Straighten and smooth out flyaways;
Neutralize static in the winter months;
Moisturize dry ends;
Making styling a breeze;
Adding shine and gloss.
It's like I'm asking for the moon, but I want it all, you know?
My latest attempt at finding the perfect product was with the TIGI Bed Head After Party spray. I was really hoping this brand would deliver, given all the rave reviews from colorists in the past. I tried their shampoo and conditioner before, and they worked wonders for me.
So, let me dive into the nitty-gritty details about this infamous After Party spray, how it performed on my dull and dry hair, and why I won't be repurchasing it.
Product Details
Volume: 100ml
Country of origin: USA
Product type:
hair serum
Suitable for all hair types.
Place of purchase: online store 'Golden Apple'
Price. In the Golden Apple, the product costs around 2000 rubles. I had some accumulated bonuses, so I bought it for approximately 1700 rubles. Maybe somewhere on marketplaces you can find it cheaper, but I prefer buying foreign products in the Golden Apple. I intuitively trust this store when it comes to product authenticity, and on Web and Ozon I'm afraid of getting counterfeit products.
PACKAGING
Okay, so let's get to the fun part. The product looks like this.
Doesn't it remind you of some other product by its color and shape? I'd seen it on pictures before, but in person, it looks so similar. I'll never forget the look on the delivery staff's face when I picked up the package from Yandex delivery in the office. I'm a woman in my early 40s, and I was mortified, hiding the hair serum in my bag. I guess I should've seen it coming.
Well, that's life, I guess.
But despite the super provocative design - and I'm not even kidding, I'm pretty sure the manufacturer did it on purpose - the bottle ended up being super convenient and functional. And the packing color is gorgeous, especially in natural light, it looks like a bright fuchsia.
Since it's an imported product, there are no labels in our language, but it does have a Russian sticker. It's also pink, just like the bottle.
I'm curious, there's a little indentation at the bottom. I'm not sure what its practical use is, maybe it was just added for the sake of it.
Under the big spherical cap, there's a puffer. The product comes out of a teeny tiny hole when you press it. It's easy to dose, since one press gives out a tiny amount of product.
The Manufacturer's Promise
The product's not only got a cool design, but its description is also super funny. It's clear the creators approached this product with a lot of creativity.
Ideal companion for a party!
I was impressed by how this product works on all hair types, especially those that are uncooperative and prone to frizz.
It smooths and softens my hair, saving me a ton of time when it comes to blow-drying.
The lightweight, creamy texture is suitable for any hair length.
It eliminates static cling.
It leaves my hair looking healthy, silky, and shiny.
Formula
Water (Aqua/Eau), Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Phenyl Trimethicone, Propylene Glycol, Isohexadecane, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum), PEG-8 Methicone, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Polysorbate 80, Sorbitan Oleate, PEG-4 Dilaurate, PEG-4 Laurate, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, PEG-4, Sodium PCA, Dimethicone PEG-8 Meadowfoamate, Panthenol, Cinnamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Linalool, Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).
Consistency, Color, Scent
As for the texture, Tigi After party has a light, creamy white color with a pearlescent finish.
I love the scent - it's like a mix of fruity notes. I'm a big fan of Tigi's fragrances; they're always pleasant and subtle.
How to Use It
Just take a small amount of After Party cream (2-3 clicks) and apply it evenly to damp hair, then comb it through and dry with a blow dryer or let it air dry. For a finishing touch or to refresh your style, apply a small amount to dry hair to eliminate unwanted odors.
I used it after washing my hair with a blow dryer. I prefer not to apply anything to dry hair, as it can weigh it down.
The cream spreads beautifully on damp hair, and you only need a tiny bit. It makes styling a breeze, and my hair just slips through the brush.
Results
Let me describe the effect I got from using this product. It's got some undeniable benefits. First, Tigi really smooths out my hair, getting rid of that frizzy look.
My porous and naturally wavy hair loved it.
You can see the difference by comparing my hair without the blow dryer and Tigi to how it looks with the blow dryer and this product applied.
One thing I noticed about my hair after using this product is that it lies flat and smooth, without any frizz. And the best part? Dry hair starts to shine.
Check out my hair in its natural state, and how amazing it looks after using After party.
Unfortunately, this product has a major flaw - it weighs my hair down, despite its lightweight texture. My hair looks greasy and over-processed, and I'm not a fan of that look. I used just a small amount, 2-3 clicks, and it still weighed my hair down.
And to make matters worse, it doesn't nourish or moisturize my dry ends at all. In fact, my hair feels heavy and greasy all over, while my ends are super dry and lacking in moisture.
I also noticed that it lacks thermal protection. Sure, it's designed for use with a blow dryer, but it needs extra protection from high heat.
In short, the Tigi company needs to add a nourishing oil and a thermal protectant to their product. That's just more expenses, added weight for my hair, and overall, not very convenient.
It's way easier and cheaper to get a multi-functional product for hair care, and there are tons of options out there.
Total Verdict
I wouldn't say this TIGI Bed Head After Party product is bad, but it's not exactly a game-changer either. It does what it promises, but with some limitations. To be honest, I'm not planning on buying it again, considering the price and what you get.
Of course, this kind of product would be a great addition to a hairdresser's arsenal, but for home use, I need something that actually makes a difference for my hair.
Let's break down the PROS of this product.
✅ It's got a sleek packaging.
✅ It smells nice.
✅ It smooths out my hair.
✅ It gets rid of frizz.
✅ It eliminates static.
✅ It adds shine.
✅ It makes styling easier.
And now, the CONS.
❌ It's not exactly budget-friendly.
❌ It weighs my hair down as it grows.
❌ It doesn't nourish my dry ends at all.
❌ No thermal protection here.
❌ No conditioning.
❌ I have to use extra products on top of this.
I'd give this product a solid three out of five. I'd definitely think twice before buying it. To be clear, if you're a pro stylist, this might be a decent addition to your arsenal. But for home use, I think you'd be better off with a more versatile product.
Good luck, and see you next time!
