Ticketland: A Convenient but Imperfect Experience

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been using Ticketland for a while now, and while it's a solid service for finding events, there are some areas where it falls short. The search function is top-notch, but the lack of refunds is a major drawback. You gotta be aware of the fees and limitations, though. If you're okay with that, it's a decent choice for concert-goers.

I've been using Ticketland for a while now, and I've gotta say, it's a pretty great service for finding events and picking seats.
Their search function is top-notch - you can filter by date, price, and venue, making it super easy to find what you're looking for.
Once you've found the event you want to attend, the seating selection process is a breeze. You can even save events to your bookmarks for easy access, which is super handy if you're planning to attend multiple events in the same city.
Buying and using tickets is also a no-brainer - most events are electronic tickets, so you don't have to worry about printing anything out.
They've even got their own rewards program, where you can earn 5% off your ticket purchase (excluding fees). You can redeem your rewards on a ticket where they cover at least 80% of the cost, which is a nice little perk.
And if you're a frequent attendee, you can even get a fan card (electronic on the site or plastic in person - free) that gets you a discount on some events (usually 30% off).
One thing I appreciate is that they cover the 10% fee they charge for their services, which is a nice touch.
Now, the not-so-great stuff:
I recently had an issue with an event I'd bought tickets for - it got canceled just a few hours before the scheduled start time. I got an email from Ticketland about it, which was a good move on their part.
After calling Ticketland, I was told that they don't handle refunds and that I'd have to deal with the event organizers myself. That didn't sit right with me, though - why should I have to go to a third party for a refund when Ticketland still gets 100% of the payment plus their commission?
I managed to track down the event organizers (after some effort), who told me I needed to provide the tickets to get a refund.
But that wasn't the only surprise: when I looked at my account, I realized that only current orders were visible, not past ones. And the links to my electronic tickets in my email led to a non-existent page on the site.
So, if you don't print out your tickets before the event, you're out of luck. Luckily, I'd printed mine out in advance - though I had to dig them out of the trash.
Ticketland didn't return their commission, either.
But the kicker is that they even deducted their commission from the cashback site I'd used to buy the tickets. Although they'd already taken my money, they still wanted a piece of the pie.
They didn't take back my rewards points, though.
Ticketland's got some major issues when things go wrong, but hey, at least their rewards program is nice.

live_helpFeatured FAQ
