Hey there!
I was totally stumped when it came time to pick a gift for my kid's birthday. They already have a ton of toys from all directions, so I wanted to surprise them with something really special and original.
While browsing through the interactive toy options on Ozon, I stumbled upon this weird, toothy creature that didn't exactly look friendly at first glance. That's how I discovered the 'Vorchun' series from Skyrocket.
There are four of them in the lineup, and I immediately ordered the Hydro one since it was the only one available for purchase.
So, what's the point of this thing?
The Vorchun is designed to complain and make a fuss. But first, you need to get it riled up and use all the features to trigger a full-blown tantrum!
It's the ultimate expression of its frustration when it starts shaking and vibrating, and it'll literally jump out of your hands with anger. You can shake it, poke it, turn it upside down – do whatever it takes to get it good and mad.
The best part is that it won't show any signs of life unless you're interacting with it, and after you're done, it'll just calm down and go back to sleep. You can even give it a little break and let it rest.
The toy cost me 2200 rubles. At the time of writing, I checked the current price in my region (Yaroslavl) and saw that two more of these monsters had been added to the lineup, and the seller had dropped the price by 300 rubles. For 1800-1900 rubles, it's definitely a great value for the price, and not just for my kid – it'd make a great gift too.
So, why Hydro? Well, according to the manufacturer, it's associated with water and makes sounds that evoke the feeling of waves. To be honest, I didn't notice that at all, and I probably wouldn't have thought of it even if I'd read it. To me, it's just because it's a lovely blue-green color.
The color is pretty nice, if you ask me! And it's also super soft and plushy, with a lovely texture that's fun to touch and play with. My kid even got a little baby brush to style its fur, and now they spend their mornings giving it a good grooming session to make sure everything stays in place.
I was surprised to find that the batteries weren't included, but the demo ones were already inserted so I could test the functions right out of the box. Of course, we all know that these batteries are usually half-dead by the time you buy them, so it's a good idea to get some extras. For this toy, you'll need three AA batteries (R6, 1.5V).
The package comes with an instruction manual, which is great for customers like me who don't speak the local language.
The back of the packaging has a duplicate of the battery information, so there's no confusion about how to use the toy. Even a slightly older kid should be able to figure it out.
So, what's the real effect of this gift?
I gave my kid a rough idea of what to expect from Santa, but I didn't go into too much detail. I just wanted to gauge their reaction. They watched a YouTube review of the toy and said they really wanted it. But between watching the video and getting the toy, there was a month-long wait. I thought for sure they'd have forgotten all about it, but not my kid! They were excited when they finally got it.
Some of our friends thought it would get boring really fast, but nope!
My kid loved the look of the toy, the sounds it made, and how it would get all riled up and vibrate. It's been three days since they got it, and they're still obsessed. They sleep with it, eat with it, and even take care of it like it's a new family member. I'm super happy because I've passed the torch of being the grumpiest person in the house to this toy. My kid used to try to get under my skin, but now they have someone else to deal with. And let me tell you, this toy is way more fun to deal with than I am!
From my perspective, this toy is really great and can brighten up not just kids' but also adults' days. The toy has over 40 different reactions to different interactions, and I think it's a great way to develop emotional intelligence in kids. It also helps them understand cause-and-effect relationships. My kid is more thoughtful about why something happens, and that's a great skill to have. I highly recommend this toy to kids aged 3 and up.
