Editor's Summary

I gotta say, I was expecting a lot more from this anime. The first few episodes were actually pretty engaging, but it all just fell flat for me. The main character's cold, calculating demeanor was cool at first, but the plot just went down a predictable path. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's just... really predictable.

I'm glad you're here, folks who appreciate the finer things in life and chose to read this review). It's a wild ride, but it's easy to get into. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I first started watching this anime. It's like, a tough-as-nails mercenary, rebirth, magic, politics, and all that jazz. It sounded pretty intense. And the first few episodes were actually pretty engaging. The main character looked like a grown man who's got his stuff together, not some typical 'I accidentally got transported to another world' guy. That was cool. He's like, cold, calculating, and seemingly intelligent. But then it all just fell flat.

Anime 'The World's Best Assassin, Reborn as a Noble in Another World / Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru'. (2024).The plot started to develop pretty standardly. There were girls, a harem, a magical school, and it all just went down the predictable path. I'm not saying it was bad, it's just... really predictable. You're sitting there, trying to guess what's going to happen next, and spoiler alert: you're usually right on the money.

The graphics are decent, sometimes even pretty. Especially in the magic scenes or when the main character goes into 'assassin mode'. The music is meh, to be honest. I didn't even remember it was there. The opening was pretty forgettable, too. I usually skipped it.

Anime 'The World's Best Assassin, Reborn as a Noble in Another World / Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru'. (2024).The moral of the story was really weirdly written. He's supposed to kill the Hero, who might potentially destroy the world. But while he's just living his new life like a rich kid, building relationships, training, and everyone's forgotten about the mission. It just doesn't add up. And there's this one scene where he spares a guy who's basically a psychopath. You're just sitting there thinking, 'Seriously? You're a hitman, not a charity organization...'

The relationships between the characters... Ugh. I wanted more depth and development, not just 'I'm a pretty girl, and now I love you forever'. Where's the drama? Where's the growth? Why are they all so one-dimensional? The only somewhat interesting character was Maha, with a pretty sad backstory, but they barely gave her any screen time...

What was this anime even about:The story starts with our world's greatest assassin. His name isn't even mentioned, but he was a total pro - cold, precise, no emotions. He worked for an organization that used him as a tool. But in the end... they betrayed him. Like, 'thanks for your service, but now you're a liability'. They just blow up his plane. Nice touch, guys.

One of the most mind-blowing moments in the game comes when you die and find yourself in some kind of limbo. That's where you meet The Goddess, who's got a proposition for you. She needs you to reincarnate in a new world and take out the Hero, because he's going to wipe out all life in a few years' time. I agreed, but only if I could choose my family, talents, and keep my memories. She agreed, and that's when the real fun begins.

I reincarnate as Lugh Tuatha Dé, the youngest son of a noble family of assassins. From a young age, I'm trained in magic, combat, politics, and medicine – basically, everything I need to become the perfect killing machine, but with a magical twist.

Characters:Lugh Tuatha Dé: That's me, the reincarnated assassin. I'm smart, calculating, and reserved, but I'm trying to be more than just a tool for killing. I've got emotions, friends, and feelings now, but I still remember my mission to take out the Hero. I'm doing everything I can to become the most effective assassin possible.

Dia Vicen: The first girl in my life in this new world. She's from a noble family, and we're learning magic together. We've got a pretty sweet relationship, but I have to say, she's a bit too perfect. She's beautiful, kind, smart, but she feels a bit like a trope.

Tart (Talisia): A girl I saved, who's now my loyal servant and companion. She's got a major crush on me and would do anything for me. She's strong, skilled with a spear, but she's got no real agency of her own. Her whole existence is just being around me.

Maha: Another girl I saved, who's got a really tough backstory. She's been through poverty, abuse, and betrayal, but I gave her a chance to start anew, and she's become my ally. She's got real depth, real pain, and real motivation. I wish they'd given her more screen time, because she's the most interesting of the bunch.

Kyald (Kild): My dad. He's tough, cold, but fair. He's teaching me to be a true assassin, but he's also showing me love and pride. Their scenes were some of the best in the game.

Esri: My mom. She's kind, caring, but not weak. She's also a trained assassin, and she's got character. She supports me and loves me, but she's not afraid to let me be myself.

The Hero: The guy I'm supposed to kill. At first, we don't know much about him, but by the end of the season, he shows up. And... he's not what I expected. He's got power, destiny, but his moral conflicts are pretty weak. There's an intrigue, but it's pretty straightforward.

Anime combines action, fantasy, politics, and a dash of romance. They start off showing Lugh's life from childhood, his training, and getting to know the girls. Then he starts working as an assassin undercover, and the plot gets a bit more serious, with a focus on battling crime organizations and preparing to kill the Hero.

The problem is that the pace is all over the place. It's like they're trying to go for a high-energy vibe, but instead, they often focus on the harem moments and pretty basic dialogue. There's some action, but it's pretty rare. The magic is decently done, but the politics are basically non-existent. I mean, the potential was huge, but it all feels like it's running on half-battery.

The first season finale is a bit of a letdown, with the intrigue still there, but not exactly leaving me thinking, 'I need to watch the next season ASAP.' More like, 'I'll check it out when it comes out.'

Art and style:Let's start with the art style in Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha – it's actually pretty standard. It's not some artsy-fartsy or visually unique approach; it's your typical modern fantasy anime with clean, smooth, and accurate drawing. And that's not a bad thing. It looks high-end. It's not some cheap knockoff. The characters are well-drawn, the clothes are detailed, and the hair is beautifully animated, especially the girls' (Tart's hair is basically a shampoo commercial, lol). All the lines are soft but clear, nothing's blurry or distorted, and it all looks deliberate.

Anime 'The World's Best Assassin Reborn in a Different World as a Noble / Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru'. (2024).The colors are rich but not overpowering. Sometimes the palette is warm, especially in scenes with Tart or Dia, while scenes with killings or nighttime missions are in cold blues and grays. It really works for the atmosphere: when there's a fight or a killing, you can feel that chill, that tension. And when they show the 'romantic' moments or everyday stuff, it's all soft and cozy, even the lighting is a bit subdued. Like they've put a lamp behind a sheet.

Anime 'The World's Best Assassin Reborn in a Different World as a Noble / Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru'. (2024).The backgrounds are good. Not super-detailed, but you can tell they put some effort into them. City locations, markets, mansions – all well-drawn with attention to detail. No empty fillers or sloppiness. I especially liked the forest scenes and the ones under the moonlight – the light and shadows are really well-done. But yeah, sometimes you get a standard background and it's like they copied and pasted, but that's rare.

Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (2024) I've gotta say, the animation is pretty solid. The fight scenes are well-choreographed. It's not super dynamic, but it's a pleasure to watch. The magical effects are cute, with fire, lightning, and mana all looking vibrant and beautiful without being too over-the-top. They're not just slapping some flashy effects on the screen like in older shows; the characters are actually moving and reacting in a way that feels natural. The animation is smooth, without any jarring or stuttering, although you can sometimes tell they're trying to cut costs. It's most noticeable in non-action scenes, where the characters might move a bit stiffly or unnaturally. But it's not a deal-breaker.

Character Design: It's clear they wanted the characters to look good, not necessarily realistic, but stylish. Everyone's got long eyelashes, soft facial features, and sparkling eyes. The girls, of course, get the fan-service treatment, with short skirts and 'accidentally' provocative poses. But it's not overdone, and it's more about the aesthetic than anything else. Lug's design is particularly cool, and he looks solid and composed, both as a young man and later on. You can tell he's not the 'fun' type, but more of a cerebral, logical character.

Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (2024) The clothing is well-done, too. The aristocrats look opulent, while the common folk are more understated, but not in a cheap way. The color schemes are also well-thought-out. Lug tends to stick to black and white or dark tones, while Tart's usually in bright blue (which, I guess, is supposed to represent hope and strength alongside him), and Dia's got warm, reddish-pink tones.

Soundtrack and OST: Now, about the sound. I've gotta say, they really nailed it. The sound design works perfectly with the atmosphere. In action scenes, the sound effects are tight and clear, with every movement, grunt, and impact sounding just right. The sword clashes with a metallic ring that gives me chills. Even the sound of footsteps on different surfaces is varied. They put in the effort. In dialogue scenes, the voice acting is crisp and well-delivered, without any overacting. I particularly liked how Lug sounds – calm, but with a sense of weight to his voice. It's not over-the-top or pretentious; it's just confident.

Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (2024) Music... yeah, I'm a bit torn here. The background soundtrack is fine, it does its job. Where it needs to amp up the tension, where it needs to bring a bit of sadness or warmth, it does. But it's not memorable. I mean, I'm not humming any of the tunes right now. It's just background music that works on the atmosphere, but on its own, it's not really grabbing me.

But the opening is a different story. 'Dark Seeks Light' is straight-up awesome. The melody is so dense, a bit dark, but with energy. And the visuals in the opening are perfectly synchronized with the rhythm, the shots are changing smoothly. It really captures the mood of the show: a mix of light and darkness, logic and emotions. I was totally hooked. The ending (ending theme) is a bit weaker, but it's sweet. It's a quiet, gentle song about love and longing. I watched it without skipping it, so it didn't bother me.

Tempo: At first, it's all slow. Like, super slow. The first few episodes are basically just setup, like 'preparing for the big story'. The reincarnation, the training, showing off the new life... it's all important, but it's a bit dragged out. I felt like the writers were like, 'Okay, we need to show all the background stuff'. And yeah, it makes sense because the main character isn't just dropped into the world and starts running around, he's actually learning, growing, building relationships. But because of that, the first 3-4 episodes feel a bit 'draggy'. Like, yeah, it's nice, but when's the action gonna start?

Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (2024) But then it's the opposite. Somewhere around the middle of the season, the tempo suddenly picks up. New characters appear, politics start, dramas, betrayals, missions... and it's all delivered quickly, sometimes too quickly. There were moments where I was like, 'Wait, wait, who's that? Why did they die? Oh, she's in love already? Okay, I'll go with it, but give me a chance to catch up'. So the tempo is all over the place, and it really affects how you perceive the show. On one hand, it's not boring. On the other hand, there are moments where it feels like they could've developed things more, or cut back on the unnecessary chatter.
Structure:I've gotta say, their storytelling structure isn't always linear, and that's kinda cool. They've got flashbacks (which work great), and time jumps where they show you the outcome first, then explain how they got there. You see this a lot in Lug's training scenes or some of the assassinations, where they show you the result right off the bat, and then they break down the plan. It adds this 'wow factor' when you're like, 'how did they even do that?' and then they're like, 'oh, they set it all up in advance.' It really keeps the story engaging. It's fun to watch.

Anime 'The World's Best Assassin, Reborn in a Different World as a Noble / Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru'. (2024).But sometimes it gets confusing. There were episodes where the transitions between scenes didn't make sense. Like, I'd just seen a training session, and then suddenly it's a wedding or whatever. The editing can be a bit rough. They chop up scenes for time's sake, and you're left feeling like you're missing out on the moment. It's especially noticeable in the dialogue, where it feels like they've cut out parts of the conversation to fit in more action.

What's dragged out, and what's rushed:

✌ Dragged out:
— The training arc. I get it, he's gotta be a 'genius assassin,' but they could've trimmed it down a bit.
— The emotional scenes with Dia. I love the guy, but sometimes it felt like they were being overly sentimental, and the story wasn't moving forward.

✂ Rushed:
— The sudden changes in relationships with the heroines, especially Dia. They're like, 'oh, we're besties now,' but they barely had any screen time together.
— The political events and the main antagonist. There's a lot going on, but it's all rushed, and you don't get to feel the scope of it.

Overall impression on tempo and structure:

Overall, this anime is either too serious or too fast-paced. It's like they're trying to balance it out, but sometimes it feels like they're leaning too hard on one side or the other. But hey, it's not boring, that's for sure. You just gotta be ready for when you want to speed it up or hit pause and be like, 'wait, what just happened?'

Anime 'The World's Best Assassin, Reborn in a Different World as a Noble / Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru'. (2024).The tempo and structure are a double-edged sword – they add some much-needed dynamism, but they also make it hard to fully invest in certain scenes. So, don't just watch this in the background. Pay attention, or you'll miss out on who's doing what to whom and why.

"}💭 Is it worth watching? It depends on what you're looking for. If you want a smart, level-headed protagonist who makes decisions with his head rather than his heart, then yes, this is the show for you.

There's no melodrama here, just calculations, espionage, politics, girls, a bit of romance, plenty of missions, and it's all set in a world where 'I've reincarnated and now I'm gonna save the world, but through dirty means'. So, it's not about heroism, it's more about cold professionalism. Anime 'The World's Best Assassin, Reincarnated in a Different World as a Noble / Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru'. (2024).But, if you're looking for real drama, deep emotions, well-developed philosophy, or genuine life conflicts, you won't find much of that here. Everything's there, but it's all surface-level. The characters are likable, but not fully fleshed out. The plot's interesting, but often simplified. It's more about 'the process' and 'the action' than 'the feeling' and 'personal growth'.

👩‍🎤 Who might enjoy this?

People who are tired of the usual fare and want to watch a strong, pragmatic, but not evil protagonist

Fans of spy and assassination stories with strategic elements

Those who love the combo of fantasy and modern thinking

Viewers who enjoy watching a character systematically get stronger, not through farming, but through skill-building

People who like a bit of harem, but without the cheesy fan service

🚫 Who might not enjoy this?

Those who crave emotional depth and complex moral dilemmas

Viewers looking for an unconventional visual style or super creative animation

People who value realistic romance

Those who've seen a lot of isekai anime might find it a bit clichéd

Viewers who don't like it when the protagonist is always one step ahead (because, let's be honest, it can sound a bit cheesy sometimes)

💬 My emotions while watching

I found it watchable. There were moments where I got fully invested, especially when Lug plans and executes something, and I'm like 'wow, nice job'.

Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (2024) But honestly, I found myself thinking that it lacked depth - like watching a beautifully crafted machine, but without a soul. The girls are sweet, but they're secondary characters. The world is interesting, but it's not fully explored. It's a great anime, but you won't be carrying it in your heart after the final credits roll. Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (2024) This is like flipping through a high-end magazine - it's pleasant, visually appealing, and smart, but you won't be re-reading it. Around episode 5, I was like, 'okay, let's see it through, maybe it'll surprise me.' It didn't. I'm not regretting watching it, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it either. It's just a solid, mindless watch for the evening when you don't want to think.

⭐ Overall rating: 7.5/10. ⭐

Thanks for reading my review. I hope it was helpful, and you managed to take something away from it. I'm wrapping things up here. 🤍
