Review of The Train of Killers

Hello friends! I'm ††The Seeker††, and I'm always on the lookout for great books. I wanted to share my thoughts on The Train of Killers. This was my first encounter with the author's work, and something tells me I'll be checking out a few more of their books. Maybe I've found a new favorite writer, whose books I'll be keeping an eye on. Or maybe this was just a one-off. Who knows? What I do know is that the book came at me out of the blue, and I'm glad it did.

As I started reading, I was expecting a super straightforward story - just a train ride from point A to point B. But one of the stops throws a wrench into the works. The main characters have to get off with their friend and some luggage to hand over cash and a kid to some of the local mafia's goons. After that, they're supposed to get a reward and be on their merry way. I mean, what could possibly go wrong on a train with only a handful of people on it? Nobody knows who they are or why they're there.

But then the story starts to unravel and reveal its absurd, gory details. A new player enters the scene - a drunk guy who's on the hunt for a punk who dared to mess with his kid. This guy's got a score to settle, and he's not going to let it go. He's determined to find and punish the kid, but he doesn't expect the kid to be a quick thinker who can outsmart him.

At first glance, these two storylines seem unrelated, but the author masterfully weaves them together. The characters have to interact with each other, and each one's got their own agenda. The kid just wants to have some fun and blow off some steam, but he's so cocky and reckless that he's putting himself in harm's way. I'm not sure if he's got a screw loose or what, but even a tough guy like him wouldn't be so reckless.

The drunk guy and the kid's dad are both after the kid, but they're forced to play by the kid's rules for now. They're just waiting for the perfect moment to strike back and turn the tables. And then there are the two bumbling guys who are supposed to be in charge of delivering the kid and the package, but they're not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed.

It's always funny how old folks think - they either love to hate the internet or are terrified of it. They slap a label on whatever they don't understand and feel better. Whether you get your info from the web or elsewhere, it's how you use it that matters.

Without giving away too much of the plot, I'll just say that a lot of people end up dead - for various reasons. There are no random deaths here; everything ties into the main storyline, and you can't help but admire the author's skill in weaving the absurdity together into something coherent.

I mean, if you start analyzing the book, you'll spot the inconsistencies, mistakes, and contradictions. But if you let the story sweep you up and just read the tale about a group of armed people stuck on the same train, it all flows smoothly. I had fun watching the author introduce new characters, each with their own story, only to reveal that they were actually hired guns who didn't know each other - or at least, not until now. And it's not just about them getting to know each other; it's about the deadly outcome for some groups. But that's a different story.

Apparently, if you think you're invincible, there's always someone who'll bring you down, and do it by breaking your legs.

I've got to give credit to the author's writing style and the way the material is presented (SPECIAL thanks to the translator who worked with the original story. I can hardly imagine the book with a different translation). The characters are also really well-developed, and you can't help but get attached to them, even though the adventure itself was a bit short.

I'm raising my hand in appreciation, and I highly recommend the book to everyone. Even if you're not a fan of thrillers, you can still get a lot of enjoyment out of reading it.
