Editor's Summary
I'm still trying to process our recent experience at the Tekstilshchiki veterinary center in Moscow. We took our furry friend there for an X-ray, but it turned out to be a total letdown. The treatment was ineffective, and to make matters worse, the vet left the clinic unexpectedly. What's more, the clinic's scheduling system is confusing, and we ended up waiting for over 20 minutes for our appointment. If you're looking for a reliable vet in the area, I'd recommend exploring other options. Here's my in-depth review to help you make an informed decision, including the good, the bad, and what you can expect from this Moscow vet.

Hello!
Finding a good veterinary center near your home can be tough, and I'm about to share my not-so-great experience with a vet clinic on Tekstilshchiki.
Vet clinic in Tekstilshchiki, Moscow reviews▷ GENERAL INFORMATIONThe vet clinic on Tekstilshchiki is located at Vlasky Boulevard, 95th quarter, building 2 (entrance from the side of the building).
They're open from 9 am to 10 pm without weekends.
▷ SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT
You can consult a veterinarian therapist without an appointment, but you'll need to book one for specialists.
I'm still not sure why you need an appointment, since you'll end up waiting anyway. We had an appointment with a surgeon at 4 pm on Saturday, but we didn't get in until 4:20 pm. We also waited a long time for the therapist.
Vet clinic, Moscow▷ SERVICES, PRICES, VETAPTEKAThe clinic offers a wide range of services, with many specialists and even a vetapteka.
Vet clinic in Tekstilshchiki, MoscowWe visited the clinic twice - first for a therapist's examination, then for a surgeon's consultation. You can also get an X-ray, blood tests, and ultrasound here and so on.Prices:
Therapist's initial consultation costs 800 rubles.Initial consultation with ophthalmologists, cardiologists, and others - from 1000 rublesNail trimming - 350 rublesUltrasound of the abdominal cavity - 2000 rublesand so on.
Vet clinic Moscow reviewsThe vetapteka has prices way higher than any online pet store. For example, the surgeon prescribed Onsior. The pack costs 1500 rubles at the clinic, while on Petshop it's 950 rubles. The difference is pretty noticeable, but I didn't know about it at the time and didn't feel like searching online, so it was easier to buy the medication and start treating my cat right away.
Vet clinic in Tekstilshchiki reviews▷ CONSULTATION WITH A THERAPIST
We took our cat to the vet because he started limping on his left front paw. At first, it wasn't too noticeable, but I noticed he was definitely limping, and I wanted to get him checked out.
The vet spent a lot of time examining him, especially his paws, but the initial check-up didn't reveal anything, so she recommended a consultation with a surgeon.
The consultation with the therapist costs 800 rubles, but since we weren't prescribed anything and didn't get any help, we didn't pay, which actually surprised me 😊
Vet clinic in Tekstilshchiki▷ CONSULTATION WITH A SURGEON, RENTGEN, CONCLUSION, PRESCRIPTION, RELEASE
We went to see the surgeon on Saturday. The doctor spent a lot of time examining him, asking us about the problem, and eventually suggested taking an X-ray because when he bent his joint, it seemed to react, and she recorded it as 'painful sensations'.
The X-ray is done in the same room; everyone puts on protective long suits and holds the poor animal by the legs. I was kicked out of the room at that moment, and my husband assisted the doctor 😊
X-ray for animalsThe X-ray took a while, and I got tired of waiting. Eventually, the paws are clearly visible, and the doctor noted initial signs of osteochondrodysplasia, which Scottish breeds are prone to due to their artificially bred breed.
X-ray for the cat The spine wasn't clearly visible, though. We had to stretch the cat out on his back, but it didn't quite work out. However, the doctor was able to take a look and said that the spine was fine.
X-ray for the cat in MoscowIn the end, we were prescribed ONSIOR for 6 days and restricted movement. If any side effects occur, we're supposed to write to her in WhatsApp, and we'll adjust the treatment accordingly.
The doctor explained everything in detail, although sometimes I thought she was too young and inexperienced, and she mentioned some general facts that I already knew (I suffer from joint problems myself, and these 'chondrodysplasias' in animals aren't that different).
She also spent a lot of time typing out the text, filling out the form, and writing the conclusion.
Not counting the waiting time (about 20 minutes), we spent exactly 1 hour in the room.
X-ray (2 front paws and spine) + surgeon's consultation - 1500 rubles.
Veterinary Center, MoscowBut it gave me a full diagnosis, which I found useful later (with another veterinarian-surgeon).
Veterinary Center in TekstilshchikiSo, let's talk about treatment. I gave Onsior as prescribed by the vet, plus I tried to limit the cat's movement and not let it run or jump.Incidentally, I've already described the effect in this review, but here I'll just add that the medication didn't help, and I even wrote to the vet twice, saying there was no effect, and the cat seemed to be limping even more! She kept telling me to wait, but if it didn't help, she'd recommend an MRI and all sorts of other stuff...
The most astonishing moment, however, was this. I'm not giving the medication anymore, waiting for another two days for good measure (maybe there's some cumulative effect), and I'm writing to the vet again:
Veterinary Center in Tekstilshchiki, MoscowHer response, to be honest, left me a bit shocked. At first, I thought she'd prescribed something wrong and was trying to brush it off quickly, but of course, that's not the case (I hope!).I asked her to write down her assumptions about why the medication didn't work and what to do next, at least. She replied that we need to further investigate (get an MRI, consult a cardiologist, and all sorts of other tests...)
Words can't describe how I felt about this. I'm sorry for my cat and the wasted time! The limping after her treatment only got worse! And, to make matters worse, the nearest center on Tekstilshchiki doesn't have a surgeon anymore (I called to confirm), so I had to look for a new clinic nearby, but unfortunately, all the clinics around us are basic (where they can only examine the cat and give a shot).
Veterinary Clinic in Tekstilshchiki ReviewsSeriously, I'm glad I took my kitty to another clinic to see a surgeon. They had the exact equipment I needed - an X-ray and a diagnosis. But the most interesting thing was that the surgeon immediately said my cat had a simple strain, he just landed awkwardly (she checked his left paw and confirmed the joint was creaking) + before that, the surgeon even let my cat walk a bit and visually confirmed the joint was sagging, so the treatment we'd have gotten wouldn't have helped anyway, since there wasn't even any significant inflammation. We need some joint and bone support meds.I prescribed glucosamine and chondroitin, which I'd already started giving my cat (and the vet at Tekstilshchiki was dead against it, saying there's no proof it works, but I know it does - I've been taking chondroitin for 4 years now, so I went ahead and ordered a bottle). This surgeon said I'd done the right thing and prescribed some calcium and other meds to boost the effect.
Veterinary Clinic in MoscowThat's it. The treatment we were initially given was completely off the mark. Honestly, I'm even glad this vet left, or we'd have continued wasting our time and money on unnecessary procedures that would have stressed my cat out even more (each vet visit is a huge stress for him), and in another clinic, they immediately figured out what was wrong with him.I don't know if the new treatment will even help, since we only just started, but I'll definitely write a separate review about the other clinic.
▷ TAKEAWAYS
I'm not saying Veterinary Clinic in Tekstilshchiki is the worst, but this whole situation with the medication I'd already written about twice to the vet, only for her to just leave... It's left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm still fuming that we wasted so much time and money taking my cat there.
And in terms of prices, I wouldn't say they're super cheap - the vet's clinic near us is actually more expensive than the pet stores. Consultations aren't cheap either (around 1000 rubles on average for specialists, and I only paid 700 rubles for the surgeon's consultation at the other clinic).
The one thing that's unbeatable is the fact that the clinic is right next door (literally 5 minutes' walk) and they have a ton of different specialists and services. Maybe we'll end up going back there for vaccinations and other stuff, but the bad taste in my mouth lingers, so the rating isn't high, but it's not the lowest either.
