Hey everyone!
I've been eyeing a steam generator for ages, just to see what all the fuss is about. Honestly, it was tough choosing between the big floor models and the handheld ones. I'd look at the bigger ones, think they'd be perfect, but then I'd worry about the space they'd take up in my flat. So, I'd go back to researching the handheld ones.
A little backstory on my purchase.
Anyway, my birthday rolled around and I got a gift card from MVideo worth 2000 rubles. Since I didn't really need anything, I decided to use it to buy a steam generator from the same store.
I've always liked Tefal gear, but I was hesitant about this handheld model because of the small water tank – it's only 70ml. But then I bought a new coat in the middle of autumn, and I realized I really needed a steam generator to get the wrinkles out. It's a nightmare trying to iron those kinds of fabrics with a regular iron. So, I went ahead and bought the Tefal steam generator, and I'm glad I did.
Let me reiterate, I chose this brand for a reason – most other steam generators in this price range looked flimsy and cheap. But this one is a different story. From the packaging to the actual product, everything is top-notch.
Some basic info.
Where to buy: MVideo, GMLenta
Power: 1300 W
Water tank capacity: 70 ml
Country of origin: China
Price: from 2599 rubles
Technical specs and my thoughts.
First off, the steam generator is super lightweight and easy to hold, thanks to the small water tank. I use filtered water for steaming, and the tank has a silicone seal that's easy to open and close without any leaks.
The long and quality cord on this steamer is a total game-changer. It's so convenient to use, especially when you need to steam curtains or something.
It also comes with a special steaming attachment, but I barely use it.
Using this thing is a breeze. You just fill up the water reservoir, insert it into the steamer until it clicks, and turn it on. The blue light on the handle will turn on, and the water will heat up in about 15 seconds. Then, you just hold down the trigger and get to work.In the first few seconds, you might get some water droplets coming out with the steam, but that's totally fine. The water reservoir holds enough for 5 minutes of non-stop steaming, which is plenty of time to get a few pieces of clothing done – like a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie. If you need to steam heavier fabrics, you might need to refill the reservoir, but that's not a big deal for me.
The steam power is around 20g/min, which is not the highest, but it gets the job done for me. I've heard that some steamers struggle with thick fabrics, but I've been using this one to steam jeans and bedding, and it's been working great.
Before After
The downsides.
When I first got this steamer and started using it, I wanted to steam my entire wardrobe, and I was steaming for about 40 minutes straight. The steamer got really hot, and it took a long time to cool down, so keep in mind that this is a portable steamer, not meant for long sessions. Also, there's no protective heat glove included, which might be a concern for some people. Just be careful when steaming, as the steam can get pretty hot.
I've almost stopped using the iron, and I've been using the steamer board in a vertical, unfolded position as a backing for the item when steaming. You can also steam items horizontally, like bedding, which is super convenient to get sorted out right on the bed.

Before/After
Before/After Before/After So, the verdict:
- super easy to use
- does a great job steaming
- really affordable
- the water tank is a bit small
For me, this steamer with its average features has been more than enough. It handles lightweight fabrics like a pro, and even tackles thicker ones with ease. Steaming has become a whole lot more enjoyable and efficient. I'd definitely recommend it!
Thanks for reading!
