I recently stopped by Svetofer and picked up some of my favorite muslin wraps and wood filler, but I ended up scoring some amazing new stuff - a deep fruit plate and dried mango from Kong. It was a total score, and I'm thrilled to share my experience with you.
Apparently, Kong mango has been sold at Svetofer for ages, and it's a steal at 390.40 rubles. I would've walked right past it if I hadn't seen it at another store for 600 rubles. The packaging and manufacturer are the same, and I've been wanting to try this mango for a while, but I didn't want to shell out 600 rubles.
I'm not considering buying mango loose because of how it's displayed - everything's out in the open, and you get bugs, dust, and people who might touch it with dirty fingers. That's just not how I want to buy my dried fruit.

Kong mango comes in a sealed transparent package without a vacuum. Mine's got a batch date of 01.04.2025, and the pieces are pretty tasty with a nice texture. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality.
I've been there before, buying dried mango at Svetofer last winter, and it came in a tiny package with a kangaroo on it. All the pieces had these hard fibers like twine, and they got stuck in their teeth. I had to use a pair of tweezers to get them out. That was a real pain, and it's one reason I was hesitant to buy the expensive dried mango - what if it had those fibers too?

Kong mango is made in Vietnam, and it looks like they just repackage it here. It weighs 500g, and the ingredients are straightforward: dried mango of the first grade. I appreciate the simplicity of the ingredients list.
People often get spooked by titanium dioxide in dried fruit, but Kong doesn't mention it. I've never heard any scandalous news about the brand, and I'm happy to support them.

The dried mango slices from Kong look appetizing, with a scent that's purely mango and free from any off or weird notes. They're tightly packed but easy to separate without breaking. I transferred them to a container with a lid to prevent them from drying out further.
Texturally, the slices are dry, without any moisture or stickiness, and slightly crumbly, but not to the point of being powdery. I was impressed by the texture.

The white speckles aren't sugar, but rather a natural sugar from the mango. The color of the slices ranges from yellow to orange, and I made sure to check for any gray or overly dark edges when I bought them.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the texture and taste. The mango is soft but still has some give, doesn't break apart from dryness, and bends easily. The thickness is spot on, except for two slightly thicker pieces that were easy to bite into.

Initially, I thought I detected some fibers, but it's just minor crevices on the surface. Inside, there are no tough strings, and nothing gets stuck in my teeth. It's easy to bite into and doesn't require any effort to chew.
The taste is pleasantly sweet, with the mango being ripe. There's a slight tanginess at the end. I was really looking forward to trying this mango, and it did not disappoint.
For a cup of tea, two medium-sized slices are enough, which is roughly 35g. So, what's the nutritional breakdown?
100g: 2.5g protein, 1.2g fat, 76.2g carbs, 330 calories
35g: 0.9g protein, 0.4g fat, 27g carbs, 115 calories
It's not as scary as it sounds in terms of calories and carbs. Yes, it's a lot, but it's not as bad as candy or cakes. In fact, it's a much healthier alternative.

I've found that dried mango is a great alternative to sweets, not in terms of calories, but in its simple composition. Those same candies or chocolates often contain palm oil and various substitutes, and pastries and baked goods are high in fat. This dried mango is just pure mango, which is what I love about it.
But here, it's just mango, which satisfies my sugar cravings for a longer period. I've noticed that after drinking a cup of tea with two petals, I don't feel the need to eat something unhealthy for a longer time.
I didn't find any downsides, so I'll definitely buy it again.
