Svetaevo Vanilla Plombir in a Waffle Cone

I'm obsessed with Svetaevo's Vanilla Plombir in a waffle cone - it's a total game-changer. The creamy ice cream is infused with 15% real vanilla flavor, and the crunchy cone adds a perfect textural contrast. It's a match made in heaven, trust me! The Svetaevo brand is known for its high-quality ice cream, and this product is no exception. The combination of smooth, creamy ice cream and crunchy waffle cone is a winning formula that's sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

A Solid Vanilla Ice Cream That Falls Short of Being Great

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm a sucker for ice cream, and I've been buying Svetaevo's vanilla plombir from Chizhik online store. While it's a solid choice, I'm not blown away. The 100-gram weight is a nice touch, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost. The vanilla flavor doesn't overpower the plombir taste, which is a plus. However, I'm not a fan of the chemical preservatives used for 18 months of storage. You can only buy this ice cream from Chizhik, which is a bummer. Overall, it's a decent option, but it's not my go-to. I've had better value for money from other ice cream brands, and I wish Svetaevo would improve their customer support and return policies. I'd also like to see more unique flavors and eco-friendly packaging.

Hello there, fellow reader!
\xa0
I've got to admit, I've been a sucker for ice cream since I was a kid. I just can't resist giving it a try.
Recently, I paid a visit to the online store 'Chizhik' and stocked up on eight packs of ice cream in waffle cones - chocolate plombir and vanilla plombir.
chocolate plombirvanilla plombirI've actually bought other types of ice cream under the 'Svetaevo' brand before, and I was happy with the value for money, quality, and taste. Plus, the fact that this store has a dedicated section for 'Chizhik' is a bonus. Although the selection is limited, I've often found that the first ice cream I pick up is a decent option.
\xa0
Vanilla Plombir Svetaevo
The packaging looks classic, just like the Vologodskiy chocolate ice cream.
It's similar to the Vologodskiy packaging, but with a different color scheme and label.
The packaging has the 'made in compliance with GOST' logo and a mention of the use of cream.
But here's the catch!
The label notes that the product contains 15% milk fat in the milk component, which meets GOST 31457-2012 standards.
However, the quality of the fat used is what matters. I've had my fair share of Soviet-era ice cream, and I can tell you that it was always delicious. I often compare it to the ice cream from local cafes in my hometown, which were known for their high-quality milk and natural flavorings. You could get a scoop for a ruble and a half, and it was always worth it.
Of course, I'm not saying that this ice cream is bad. It's actually quite good.
\xa0
It seems that the marketers behind this ice cream have used similar tactics to those used by Vologodskiy. The GOST standards have changed since the Soviet era, and the new standards are more lenient.
\xa0
Production:
The manufacturer is listed on the packaging, which is a nice touch.
On the photo below, you can see that the manufacturer is OOO 'Aisberry-FM' from Tutayev, Yaroslavl Oblast.
However, if you look at the packaging with the letter 'B', it's actually OOO 'Vologodskoye Moryozhennye' from Vologda.
It seems that all these manufacturers are part of the same group.
That's why the packaging looks familiar, but with a different color scheme.
\xa0
Shelf life: 16 months! I see that as a sign of quality, even if it's not explicitly stated. And that's often the case with products from this brand.
\xa0
Ingredients and Energy Value
\xa0
The ingredients are listed on the packaging.
\xa0
Ingredients:
\xa0
\xa0
Ice Cream:
Whole milk, butter, water, sugar, cocoa powder, non-fat dry milk, dry glucose syrup, dry milk blend (dry whey, dry glucose syrup, milk protein), complex food additive (emulsifier: mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, stabilizers: guar gum, carrageenan, tara gum, carob gum),

Wafer Cup:
Wheat flour, potato starch, water, sugar, soy lecithin (emulsifier), coconut oil, salt, egg protein, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)

\xa0
Unpacking and Taste
\xa0
So, after unpacking, I get a whole, neat, and not crushed ice cream.
\xa0
\xa0
The ice cream starts to slightly melt.
I take a bite.
Ice cream has a moderate melting point, meaning it doesn't contain a high concentration of plant-based fats like palm oil. But, of course, that's not a guarantee.
I cut it open.
Fill is even.\xa0I've got to say, the flavor of the wafer doesn't overpower the ice cream. And when the ice cream is slightly softened, you don't get a sense of stiffness from the wafer, and there's no grittiness, which can be a problem with some similar products that have dry wafers that scrape the roof of your mouth.
The glass is filled to the brim with ice cream.
The flavor is pleasant, light, and you can taste the creamy element - it's definitely not margarine.
There's a hint of vanilla, but it doesn't overpower the ice cream.
The flavor is rich, but it doesn't overwhelm the ice cream.
\xa0
So, the ice cream has a nice coffee flavor and a pleasant aftertaste.
The ice cream isn't too sweet, it's just rich and creamy. The flavor is more similar to the Soviet-era chocolate ice cream from this brand than many modern brands.
The wafer cup complements the ice cream nicely when it's softened.
The sweetness level is just right.
\xa0
The Verdict
Despite being stored for 16 months with added thickeners, emulsifiers, and oxidizers...
The flavor is nice, and the price is good, but they've taken away something from the ice cream that would make it truly great.
The recipe has been done better on the Vologodsky ice cream.
\xa0
They ruined the main recipe, and it used to cost 28 rubles, then 34-36 rubles, and so on, for 100 grams.
\xa0
It looks like they're trying to hype up this brand, just like they did with Vologodsky ice cream.
\xa0
In general, it's a good dessert, weighing 100 grams, for 44 rubles, if you don't overdo it.
