I've made a few purchases from a store called Stars Store.

Today, I want to talk about that store.

My first few orders were made a few years ago, when Stars Store only had a Vkontakte group.

At first, I was hesitant to order, since I had to pay the admin via card.

But there were tons of reviews with photos in the group's discussion, so I decided to take the plunge and get a perfume.

Later on, the store got a website.

Now, ordering is way more convenient.

Stars Store works like a normal online store, mostly.

There are a few exceptions, which I'll get to in the next point.

Essentially, Stars Store buys items from celebrities' official websites and ships them from the US/UK to Russia.

Is that a good deal?

Here's where Stars Store stands out from the crowd - most online stores have social media profiles, but few engage with their customers like this.

Sure, many sites have a Vkontakte group and an Instagram profile, but that's about it.

They post updates about new products, sales, free shipping, and delayed orders in social media.

Their Vkontakte group is where things get interesting - staff members post tracking numbers, but only in Vkontakte.

You won't get an email with the tracking info, just a message saying your order's been shipped.

After that, you'll need to log in to the group, find the document with your tracking number, and search for it by order number.

UPDATE: tracking numbers now come via email, so this is no longer an issue.

They also use Vkontakte and Instagram to promote bundles.

These bundles work by collecting a certain number of people and buying products from an international site.

In these cases, you'll need to transfer money to the admin's card.

Personally, I think this is a major minus.

I find the separation between the website and social media to be really inconvenient.

Yeah, I see a lot of reviews from people who got their stuff from group orders, but still.

Same thing with tracking info – what if the person who made the order just found the shop in their browser and has no idea where to look for it?

I've never ordered any of their own-brand tees or hoodies, to be honest – I just don't see the point.

Yeah, there is a markup.

I remember someone complaining about it in the Stars Store group on VK, but it's not as bad as they made it out to be.

The item itself might be $1000 more expensive or something, but you have to factor in the shipping costs from international celebrity sites to Russia, which can be pretty steep.

Stars Store, on the other hand, orders items from the US or UK and ships them to St. Petersburg first, then to the rest of Russia – that's way cheaper.

So, in the end, the markup isn't huge, but you do have to compare prices each time.

For example, not long ago they were doing a Selena Gomez collab, and the hoodies were selling for 5200 rubles plus 290 for shipping.

I compared the prices to Selena's official site, and the same item was around 5200-5300 rubles with shipping included.

So, the difference was only 200-300 rubles.

I've ordered Harry Styles merch a few years back, and I wanted to buy this hoodie from Stars Store.

Initially, it cost me 4990 rubles plus 290 rubles for shipping.

I ended up buying it from the official store for around 4500-4800 rubles with shipping included, but I'm not entirely sure about the exchange rate at that time.

However, I still prefer buying merch directly from official websites.

Shipping here is super slow.

Stars Store sends out items using the cheapest method possible.

It takes a while for the items to arrive on their warehouse, in St. Petersburg, and across Russia.

You won't get your package in under 1.5 months (unless you're ordering directly from St. Petersburg).

My last order took two months to arrive.

But that's not all Stars Store's fault – the delivery was delayed due to the Russian postal service, and the official store sent the album out later than they should have.

Prior orders took 1.5-2 months to arrive, and only the logo from St. Petersburg came in a week.

I get why the shipping took a while, but as a buyer, it's definitely a minus for me.

I mentioned earlier that I cancelled my second-to-last order.

Unfortunately, you can't do it through the website.

You have to send a message on VK.

It didn't get cancelled right away.

The person who bought the album I ordered had to be found first.

They posted a note on their wall, and since the signed Duá Lipa discs were out of stock, a new buyer was found pretty quickly.

I got my money back the next day, or so it seemed.

But the order cancellation system isn't exactly user-friendly.

All in all, I've got a good impression of Stars Store.

It's a great place for fans to get merchandise from their favorite artists.

You can find perfumes from many celebrities in Russian-language online stores, but I haven't seen any merchandise like this before.

The website is easy to navigate, placing an order is a breeze.

They've got all the necessary payment and shipping options.

There are regular promotions, new releases appear quickly, and orders usually arrive intact.

I've only seen a couple of cases where something was broken, and the admins got in touch with the buyer right away to make things right.

When it comes to prices with shipping, the markup is often minimal.

But, of course, nothing's perfect.

I'm not a fan of how you can only track most of the events on social media.

Especially the shipping updates.

You can't even properly cancel an order.

And then there's the shipping.

Yes, the long delivery time is justified.

If the store was shipping from a warehouse with a faster and more expensive delivery, the prices would be higher.

But still, waiting almost two months isn't exactly cool.

And some people wait even longer – up to six months.

And to make things worse, there's no free shipping on orders above a certain amount.

Most of the time, I'd recommend buying merchandise from the official websites and albums from Ebay or with the merchandise.

That way, it's faster and a bit cheaper.

And if you do encounter any issues, they'll be resolved faster than with Stars Store.

So, when should you contact Stars Store?

When I'm in the mood for buying perfume, I've noticed that One Direction fragrances are cheaper here than on other online stores. When I want something exclusive. When I don't feel like dealing with foreign websites. When I need items from multiple celebrities.

I'd recommend Stars Store, but now I only use it when I have no other options.

The shipping time is a bit of a letdown, and there are a few other minor drawbacks that make me take off a star.
