A Hidden Gem for Transfers: Starominskaya-Timashyovskaya Railway Station

summarizeEditor's Summary

This railway station is a must-know for anyone planning a trip to Eysk. It's not the most impressive station, but it gets the job done with short train stops, decent amenities, and clear announcements. The real gem is the mini supermarket where you can grab essentials at reasonable prices. If you're heading to Eysk, make sure to stop by this station – it's worth the detour. With its solid build quality and reasonable prices, this station is a total winner. Don't be put off by the limited selection in the train station shop; the supermarket makes up for it, offering a good selection at prices that won't break the bank.

Hello there!
I've been to the Starominskaya-Timashyovskaya railway station a few times, and I've got to say it's a real hidden gem – especially if you're heading to Eysk for a break. There's a train station in Eysk itself, but not many trains run directly to it, except for a few summer routes from St. Petersburg and Moscow.
The train stops here are usually pretty short, just a couple of minutes for people to get on or off. And, of course, you'll be leaving from this station after your Eysk break too.
In all honesty, there's not much to expect from this station, given the situation. A decent toilet, a couple of shops, and a waiting area – that's all you really need, in my opinion.
The announcer has a clear voice, which is a big plus. The announcements about arriving and departing trains are clear as day.
And that's exactly what you'll find here.
Two shops: One's a classic train station shop with a pretty limited selection. The other, which I didn't manage to snap a photo of, is a mini supermarket where you can grab what you need at reasonable prices. So, that's a thumbs-up for this one.Shop at Starominskaya-Timashyovskaya stationToilet:The toilet is a separate building, a bit off to the side, but it's clean and smells okay for a train station. There's liquid soap, toilet paper, and a hand dryer. It's all pretty standard, but that's what you'd expect. Men and women have separate entrances, and the women's section has a few cubicles and sinks. There's even a mirror.
That's a plus!
Waiting in comfort:I've found that there's a nice, shaded alleyway right in front of the train station building, which is perfect for waiting for your train. It's got a nice, peaceful atmosphere, and the trees provide plenty of shade. I've spent my fair share of time waiting for trains here, and it's always been a pleasant experience.
Train station reviewThere are benches scattered around the area, providing a comfortable place to sit and wait.
Other details:It's usually pretty quiet here, especially when it comes to boarding and getting off the train. Of course, compared to bigger cities, it's not exactly bustling, but that's part of the charm.
The staff do a great job of keeping everything tidy and under control. You'll see them patrolling the area to make sure everything runs smoothly.
There are a few small dogs roaming around, but they're not aggressive and seem pretty well-fed. I even saw a cyclist ride by, and the dogs just gave him a friendly bark before going back to their nap.
The trash cans are always neatly kept, and they even have separate bins for recyclables.
Just behind the train station, there's a large parking lot for cars, and of course, you'll find plenty of taxi drivers waiting to take you where you need to go. They can be a bit pushy when they see you getting off the train, but it's all pretty reasonable.
by the train station, with taxi and car parking to the leftI've found this place to be a pretty standard transit point, especially since it's just a short hour's journey to the sea from here. You don't even need to take a taxi, as there are trains that run from here to Eysk.
Of course, there are some areas that could use a bit of renovation, like these railings. But let's be honest, it's not a major issue for most people who are just passing through for a short while.
Starominsky-Timakhovsky train station reviewI'd give it five stars as a transit point – everything you need for a short stay is right here.
There are only two platforms, as far as I can remember, and they're connected by a sound signal, so you'll definitely catch your train.
The bottom line:It's a perfectly ordinary transit station on the way to your holiday destination, without any major issues to speak of.
And that's perfectly fine.
Thanks for reading.
