My Honest Review of the Sovcombank Cashback Card 2%: Is It Worth the Hype?
I've been trying to get my finances in order as a freelancer, but it's tough to find a bank that can keep up with my changing income. I've got multiple debit cards from different banks, but I'm still not satisfied with the cashback or interest rates. That's why I chose the Sovcombank debit card with a 2% cashback, mainly due to their catchy ads and a positive review I read on our site. Plus, they have no annual maintenance fee and no card issuance fee, which was a major factor in my decision.

To get a Sovcombank card via a friend's referral, it's actually pretty straightforward. I wanted to take advantage of the benefits that come with opening a new bank account, including earning 500 rubles for referring a friend to the Sovcombank debit card.
I asked a relatively unknown woman from our site to share the 'invite a friend' link with me, and she kindly agreed. I clicked on my friend's link and filled out the survey, leaving my preferences for a convenient time and date for the courier to deliver and hand over the card. I think I was expecting to get the card the next day, but to my surprise, the courier called me back pretty quickly and offered to bring the card the same day. I declined, and we settled on the next day instead.
The courier arrived at the agreed-upon time, giving me a call first. I had to head down to the entrance to meet them, and the whole process took place in their car. It was interesting to see how things are done nowadays. My courier was a young woman. She helped me fill out the documents, took a photo of me holding the card, and we waited for the online documents to be verified. Everything went smoothly, and I got the card.
The courier didn't try to sell me any other services; she just warned me that I'd get an SMS on my phone a few hours later and I'd need to set up my PIN. I'd already registered in the online banking system myself, so the courier's services didn't apply to that. She just handed me the card, and that's exactly what I wanted – a courier who's more like a bank employee, but better.
Here's the card – it's not named. The design is pretty simple, and the payment system is Mir. I got it in November 2025, and it's valid for 7 years.

I'm not a fan of the personal account, compared to the login interfaces of other banks I have, it's a bit confusing and not all the information is there, for example, there's no forecast of income in the savings account, while other bank apps have it.
Every bank has its own quirks, for instance, Sovcombank's reporting period starts from the moment you apply for the card, not from the 1st of the month. The cashback is credited at the end of the reporting period, not on a specific date, so Sovcombank credits cashback to its clients on different dates.

As it turned out, I received 500 rubles from Sovcombank for my referral, which was a nice surprise. Remember, I mentioned earlier that the reward is 500 points, which are equivalent to 500 rubles?
Let me break it down. I applied for a cashback card with Sovcombank on November 3, 2025. I met the conditions of the promotion on November 6, which means my total purchases exceeded the required 1000 rubles. On December 4, I saw 500 cashback points in my personal account.

I've got to say, getting my 500 bonus rubles credited to my account right after the reporting period was a nice surprise. It was exactly a month later, on January 4th, when I saw the bonus pop up.

What I really like about the cashback program on this card is that it gives you 2% cashback on all purchases, no matter what. I think it's super convenient that you don't have to choose categories every month, because let's be honest, sometimes you forget to select the right one and the cashback doesn't kick in. Here, you don't have to worry about that.
Earnings from referring a Sovcombank debit cardWhen calculating bonuses, they round down to the hundredth, which is a bit of a bummer.

As it stands, I've got the cashback card 2% on all my purchases, and Sovcombank also offers two other debit cards with interesting conditions - one with cashback up to 30% on certain categories and another with a percentage on remaining balance. I recently received a message from the bank announcing that from 2026, I'll be able to switch between these three cards for free once a month, which sounds like a great perk, although I'm not sure if it'll be available on the Android app.
